Best thread I've read in fookin ages:lol:

Having had the (mis)pleasure of meeting both Brian and Mike - I can say both of them are as daft as a brush:D I love differences of opinion, and usually I am always up for stoking the flames, but this thread doesnae need it.

I always slag The Cure as well, even though I love Standing On a Beach and Mixed Up. Goths deserve everything they get, same with them alternative wankers Depish:ignore:

Mozzer's new song is class though, best thing he's done since the November Spawned a Monster era. Cannae wait to go see the miserable cunt on the 22nd:smoking:

Please lets not have a poll on wheather the latest Morrissy or Cure single is better. :D

I have always hated Morrissy, with his whyning singing. I also hated him in the past because believe it or not in the olden days before we all knew better all the girls (well the ones I liked anyway) loved him.

The Cure I don't much hate I even own one of their CDs and saw the live once (boring). But come on I'm sure there is an appropriate site on the net for Cure worship. Well I haven't looked.

THE CURE IS BETTER THAN NEW ORDER !!!!

As a matter of fact wr plan on renaming this site thecureonline.com and making great competition to Chain of Flowers.... that is, until, of course, David Sultan becomes a Simon Gallup guru.

Yep I agree 100 %. Though I like the Cure of 1978-1980 ear. But that's not the Cure everybody loves for :) So that's an excuse. :thumb:

a fan sent this to cof:

"Since there has been so much said about the Coachella show I'm not going to write a full review, but there was something I wanted to mention. I was at the very front of the stage for most of the day on Sunday waiting to see The Cure. It was one of the hottest experiences of my life and I grew up in the Mojave Desert. Water was being sold for $2 a bottle and once you were at the front you had no chance of getting out to get it anyway. During one of the hottest parts of the day a security guard walked along passing out free bottles of water to the people at the front of the barricade. He said that it was courtesy of the band called The Cure. They wanted to make sure their fans had plenty of water. I thought that was a really nice gesture. Not many bands would be concerned with matters like that when they are relaxing back stage. Thank you to them."

talk shit all the shit you want about the cure, but this is very cool of them and i have no reason to believe this is a fake story. i cant picture ppl making this up.

I don't doubt the Cure are a good live band (they've in immense back catalogue to plunder and after 40-odd line-up changes in the past 25 years you'd think they'd be finely tuned by now?).

But then, I don't doubt that Pink Floyd and U2, by the sheer enormity and professionalism of their shows, would be deemed 'better' in most people's eyes. Or that Busted and Atomic Kitten fans think they're the greatest live bands ever as well.

However, as a long-standing New Order fan, I just don't see the attraction of the Cure. Nothing against the band whatsoever, but I simply don't see any common ground between them and New Order (yep, the Cure did "Inbetween Days" and Depeche did "Enjoy the Silence" but Kylie also did "Can't Get Blue Monday out of my Head" and I don't consider her and New Order in the same genre).

To slag New Order 'live' when most people here have extremely limited exposure to said band in the live arena does seem rather churlish though. And to slag them on a New Order website too? Tsk!

I propose a new forum. Bootleg Obsessives Only. Ground rules are: Nobody mentions the Cure, Everyone must kiss the asses of the NOOLers with the biggest Boot collection (and no Jeff, i'm not talking shit kickers), Discussions about the quality of performance from New Order shall not be mentioned (that would detract from the I have It, You Want It discussions), Detailed notes on tape hiss, Tape type (Bias, 90/60min etc) and garbled comments from Hooky shall take priority over all else and finally, All officially release New Order material shall be slated as "not as pure as the live sets from the same era" or "fleecing the fans". Members sign up below. Please submit your Speadsheat Catalogue of bootlegs for consideration to JULIOMURRO@JOYDIVISIONISBETTERTHANNEWORDER.COM.

Thank you.

We've already got that Brian, and only Sam posts in there ! Mike has managed to avoid that one so far.....
