So Pope, how was it?

Certainly not what I expected. It's much more simple rock than the mournful synth dirges I was hoping for. Looks like The Cure are trying to cash in on this retro-70's gee-tar band revival. Also, for some reason, I started thinking of the mid-career Smashing Pumpkins whilst listening to it. I hope the rest of the album isn't like this new single, but it's growing on me as I speak. I'm looking forward to cranking it up properly loud tomorrow morning after my roommates gone to work, and of course hoping the produced version sounds crisper--though apparently the tracks for the new album were recorded live in the studio, so it might not make that much difference. Catchy and decent, but no instant classic. A bit of a letdown after such a long buildup, but I'm not easily satisfied. Even New Order's latest single was at the top of their game (unlike this odd track)....

Oh Christ not again

I was thoroughly unimpressed with it, I gotta say. I caught the tail-end of the performance and thought "hmm, thoroughly unimpressed with it". :p

I will have to hear it a few times to form a valid opinion, though. It didn't approach the ungodly awfulness of Johnny Marr's performance on "Letterman" a while back, but it was pretty humbling to see a once-was stoop so low.

Nor probably as sad as Nick Cave's last time on Leno, and all Blixa got to do was stand there and quietly strum his guitar, what a waste, no wonder he left the band, Nick's gonna headline in Vegas pretty soon.

i like it :) i really liked that there was no 'cure' intro, i cant think of any other cure single where robert started out singing so quickly and there was no music break either which was cool (is that the right term? you know 5-10 seconds of music before the next verse.) for the first time being played live in front of people it wasnt bad. it will sound better on cd and in future live shows.

Wifey called to tell me Fat Bob and ther Luv Shakers were on Leno. I immediately turned a tv on and watched. I thought the song sucked. Nothing really there to grab me and now nearly 48 hours later I barely remember it. I'll have to listen to the mp3 to make another opinion.

Was not their new album due about the time Triology came out??

just before hearing the new single I thought it would be utter crap, but after listening to it, it does have some good qualities. It's not a good song, nor is it a bad song. Cure fans should be content, and people who dislike the Cure will probably think it's shit. Frankly, Bob could have done much worse, *cough* Bloodflowers *cough*.

39 ruined BF for me. Only later did I appreciate the other songs. Never really listened to Wild Mood swings. Own it but it collects dust.

Funny thing is that I dl a bunch of Cure gigs but never listen to them. The same with REM. I stopped dling both bands.

Went camping this weekend and took only 2 CDs--Geri's Cock to Kiss and NO's Back to Mine. Only listened to Geri's for a chill out and block off the world as I fall asleep in a tent music.

i liked the song the performance was horrible though all the goths in the audience were laughable as well id like to here the studio version of the song before i make an opion thougj
