Formula One's blackest weekend. Senna and Ratzenberger die, Barrichello nearly dies, spectators are hurt by flying debris from the start line crash and a mechanic is hit by a flying wheel from Michele Alboreto's car in the pits.

Never liked Senna's "win at all costs" mentality, but there is no denying he was an absolute genius behind the wheel. RIP.

If I was a cynic, I'd also say that it was also the weekend that started the incredibly dull Scuhumacher era...

...yeah, Austrian mate Ratzenberger died before he could make F1 career, he was as talented as Schumacher; what a waste of life... :nonono:

RIP

Also 10 years ago, this weekend, the last ever game played infront of the famous Spion Kop terrace at Anfield.

Suprised we never had a thread like this 2 weeks back for the Liverpool fans on here. The one Liverpool subject i dont take the opportunity to abuse. A very sad day for all.

Indeed, I'd just be happy if everyone here refrained from buying The S*n in honour of those who died and whose families fight for justice still goes on.

Ayrton. the best car driver i´ve ever seen in my life. unfortunately i can´t say anything about Fangio since there´re only a few documents about his greatness, not much for me to decide really even if he was my countryman. but i did see Ayrton and he was just great, the most talented pilot. i really suffered when he died and i can´t believe it´s been 10 years since that episode. this is my homage

Tis a sad day indeed, and I'm glad to realise so many people can see through so many little things - such as his 'win-at-all-costs' mentality - because the guy really was a genious, and had he not died 10 years ago today, I doubt there even would have been a Schummy-era. Not to his discredit, though - Schummy is a brilliant driver and to deny that is stupid. But of course, he has the whole of the F1 circus working for him - or at least the whole of Ferarri, including fellow driver Rubens Barrichello - so it's only understandable that someone as talented as him should excel all the time.

Anyway, as a brazilian I thank you for taking your time to give the memory of someone as brilliant and magical as Senna some thought and love.

my other idol, even if he never won a championship! :thumb:

and about "winning at all costs"... you mean the time when he pushed Prost out and won the title? Prost deserved it for doing the same one year before. everybody knew Senna would do that because everyone thought "i´d do it if i were Senna". i, for one, was happy with what he did. he had hot blood in the vains and he showed it. that´s why he was better than the rest. he had a plus: his winning mentality. he didn´t want just to drive cars. he wanted to be the best, he wanted the glory and he persecuted that. and he made it.

Senna was indeed a legend.

Again, most amusing Mike;)

Maybe Schumacher is better. But, in fact, Senna run against Piquet, Prost, Mansell, even Lauda... Schumacher run against Villeneuve (Jacques), Andretti (Michael), Hill (Damon), Heineken (or something)...
