Alec Gilroy & 'Twenty-Four Hour Party People'

While killing invaluable time searching through the Internet Movie Database, I noticed that Roy Barraclough, known to most as funny-as-feck Alec Gilroy from 'Corrie', was in the credits of '24 Hour Party People', but not as an actor. He was listed as having received "Special thanks", whatever that means.

I just wondered if anyone at NOOL knows why Barraclough was thanked by the makers of the film. I havent seen '24HPP' yet, so any information would be greatly appreciated... for about 5 minutes anyway.

Also, could anyone confirm or deny a rumour for me: my brother is convinced that he read in a book a few years ago that Roy Barraclough is gay, but I've yet to see that same information anywhere myself. Anyone here know the truth...?
