Do we have to surgically remove the NTSC True Faith video from you? Remember that? I'd almost forgotten.
After 13 knee operations meself, there ain't a lot to be gained from seeing someone else have one !

While I love to watch things blowing up, violent scenes of destruction in war movies and caught on film ect, surgery I do not enjoy watching.
How'd you fook up your knee?
Godspeed, texas name changer. Here's to a successful and painless procedure.
I just squatted down to pick something up, and the right knee just went Kapow...or something like that...didn't hurt too bad at first...but by the end of the day I couldn't stand on it...
now if the fooking surgeon would just set the date...cuz this is hurting like hell!!!
and Timbo...since you've been through so many of these...got any suggestions on what I can do to get the swelling in the knee and lower leg to go down???
I've tried ice...didn't work...I've tried heat...didn't work...I would ask the doctor...but he seems more interested in telling me about how I should quit smoking!!!
i'd need some beverages to watch something like that. oh well, at least it's just a knee and not open heart surgery.

Pre-op swelling ? Sounds as though you may have pinged a lateral cartilege, which will generally draw all the spare fluid the body can muster to protect it. Do not try heat whatever you do, the body gets confused by it and thinks it needs more blood and plasma to the area. You'll need to do a lot of sitting down with your leg raised, keep the ice on, may take days. If there's a tear, they may make a small incision to scrape away the damaged bit. You don't need all the cartilege you have, the body produces extra to start with, and it does wear down naturally.
thank you Tim...
I actually had to drag that info out of the doctor during todays visit
JW: So if you think there is still some bleeding going on, I shouldn't use heat? DR: Hmmm...yes
JW: So would ice and elevation be the appropriate treatment, along with the two prescriptions? DR: Ah...yes
fooking hell...why are me and the insurance company paying this quack sooooo much money...100 bucks a visit (only 20 of it is mine) he's seen me twice in 5 days...and wants me to come back on Thursday...the payment on his beemer must be coming up!!!
Might as well Jeff, besides the beverages, how bout some Junior Mints? I must've missed yer post on how this all happened, hope you'll be okay by July.

be sure to get a bag of killer weed before you go in. that way you have a good pain killer and medicinal smoke waiting for you when you get home.
Would you be interested in seeing mine?
I'm still on the damned waiting list.. sure, we have free health care for everybody in this country, but not exactly when you want it ![]()
If you were to pay me, say, a tenner an hour AND put a crate of stella in front of me I'd watch just about anything Brother Jeff.

how many legs have you got? ![]()
Well, counting those two shorter appendages on each side, that would make three, wouldn't it?

Hi Buffy here,
everyone seems to have a story. I dont,I would go weak at the knees seeing such an event!(Pardon the pun)![]()
you could just say something shocking...like you were born with no knees!!!
god...that was crap...
should I get me coat???
Jeff,
Sorry to hear about the blow out.
Are you going to be able to get a scope job or will they have to do a reconstruction?
If it's reconstruction, ask about the following for post-op care:
Have the doc install an ice water bladder amongst the dressing that will be wrapped around the knee. A small cooler with a pump inside will connect via hoses to the bladder. It circulates very cold water right to the knee and eliminates the need for ice packs.
Demand the CPM (continuous passive motion) machine. You strap your leg into this thing 3 times a day (make sure you're loaded up on Vicadan before) and set the degree angle you want the machine to bend your leg at the knee. The machine does all the work. It hurts like hell at times, but it's worth it. I saw a girl at my rehab place who didn't get one. Her leg was at a jacked up angle and it took her 3 times as long to rehab.
Good luck and God bless. :)
hmmm...funny thing happened at the doctors office today...the results of my MRI came back, and there is NOTHING wrong with my knee...the meniscus , which the doctor thought had to be torn, is in perfect shape...thank goodness he had them scan the calf as well...turns out that the swelling was coming from the calf, not the knee...and thanks to Timbo telling me to keep the heat off of it...the swelling had already reduced itself enough that I have almost the full range of motion back in my knee...apparently I did some damage to the muscle, and by applying heat to it, it was causing the body to continue to send more fluids in...so now I get another week off from work...been told to lay on my ass, ice it down as often as possible...keep it raised, and it looks like the body will heal itself...so it now appears that there will be no surgery...
sorry to disappoint you lot...and thanks to those of you who passed on advice and good wishes...now...back to the insanity!!!!
