it has got to be against the law to not put Hitchcock's Psycho at no.1 as the greatest horror film ever. Not only is it the greatest horror film ever, in my opinion, it is the second greatest film EVER. Only after Hitchcock's masterpiece, Vertigo. there would be no Halloween if it wasn't for Psycho.

The Shining should be higher.

BTW, not that I disliked The Ring, but seeing its original version Ringu so high makes me wonder, the scary thing about that movie was flashes with music that last 1 sec each time, nothing else.

I've seen scarier...

Where's Poltergeist? that movie scared the hell out of me when I was a kid ;)

The Ring remake was full of those cheap shock cuts. The original (Ringu) worked harder to cause some greater dread. The second one is quite good, too, but I thought the third one (the prequel) was pretty weak.

I'd have gone for Halloween as well but also The Fog as well. Michael Jackson should be there too. Scares me that man !

The Exorcist, The Shining, The Sixth Sense, Signs, and Psycho for my own top 5.

Teen slasher flicks are shite.
