Euro Champs 2004

Well obviously I want England to win, but there's more chance of Known Pleasures/Digital/whatever having another rehearsal than there is of England actually winning anything (and that includes tossing for kickoff/choice of ends).

I'm too out of the loop with European football at the moment to comfortably predict who will do well (don't even know who is in England's group yet, let alone the other group), but I do know one thing. It won't be Scoatlin.

At last !! A Euro 2004 thread :) . Its always very hard to predict whos gonna win tournaments like that, but i can bet on who arent: 1) Germany - they did far more than they could on the last world cup, they cant get lucky everyday 2) Spain - even we Greeks beated them in Zaragosa (although this time we may get punished for that ), they never seem to be as powerfull team as the names of their players suggest 3) Portugal - I dont know why, but the Portuguesse, no matter how taleneted they are and despite that they play on their ground, they never make me trust them in long terms 4) Holland - Good players, but somehow luckin of imagination in their play (and without that its difficult to turn around a game which goes the wrong way). So that leaves errr..,, France (the usual suspects), Italy (especially if Francesco Totti finally shows on National team level all he's capable of), England (the least chances compared to the previous 2, but still i expect them to be a very-hard-to-beat team) and probably a "surprise" team (remember Denmark 1992, Chech R. 1996). Which team may be the surprise one? I d like to think its gonna be Greece (but i doubt it ) so i d go with Chech R. - very good players, at their best age for football and (probably) very thisty for something bigger than 1996. Thats all for now. Cant wait for June 12 !!!!!! ;)

Baros could be worth a couple of quid for leading scorer. Has quite a good record at international level and I think you can get 50-1 on him.

Yes, we're doing it in a Kraftwerk stylee! Le Eurostar a Paris, then TGV to Irun and finally the Nord Express to Lisboa.

We've got England / France, Czech Rep / Latvia and Sweden / Italy - might hope to pick up a ticket for another game while we're out there.

Quite fancy Italia or Holland to win it.

I feel we might have a chance this time! When I am proved wrong and Spain is back in Madrid I'll support England, of course. After England's departure I will support Germany in the final. I just hope the French will lose.

If you did follow football then you might've noticed the French 'choke' spectacularly at their last major tournament just two years ago.

Here's hoping for a glorious repeat! I watched the World Cup and was hoping for a repeat of '98. I ended up arguing football with a Korean person!

Do anyone know what televison network will carry it in the USA?

England are capable of winning or losing,we might be due a good tournament by now! ESPN will probably show it in the states but wouldnt they be advertising it by now?

englands midfield 4 is as good as anyones in the tournament. they will miss a top class centre half to sit alongside sol. i think lack of goals may ultimately curb englands chances..semi final defeat

Agreed you have an excellent midfield, and with Owen up front you're always in with a shout. Ultimately the weak link is the centre of defence and most of all Calamity James in goal! Quarter-final exit to Portugal or Spain i reckon. The Italians to beat the French in the Final.

the french, unfortunately. however, as al notes, a repeat of their 2002 'performance' would be nice! the dutch look pretty strong, as well. i wish i could say england, but the first match...ergh!

Now I think the English team is a bunch of losers. But the French team is a bunch of lucky bastards; I could see today that only Zidane really knows how to play ball. The ohters wouldnt play in my team.
