U2 are, indeed shite. For a band thats been going 25 odd years they should have more than 10 truly great songs, most of it is U2 by numbers. Sad when they have the talent to write "With Or Without You" and "The Sweetest Thing".

U2 went straight to hell after Eno pooched their sound. Although The Unforgiveable Fire is a great chill out album i.e. white noise to lull you to sleep they really went down hill afterwards. Last decent album was Red Rocks.

Politics + Ego / overpaid producer X imaginary self importance = shit

What a fooking mockery of a sham they became.

The U2 spyplane is overrated :D

U2 is a Soviet biplane during WWII. Soviet women would fly them at night to drop bombs on the German invaders. These pilots were known as Night Witches.

But there's the infamous "U2 Spy Plane shootdown" when Bono and the gang were shot down over Soviet territory in 1960, causing an international crisis. Bono claimed they were simply "cruising over Siberia to promote world peace, man."

The Soviets should have executed them...:nonono:

Bloody hell, how many times does something like this have to happen to U2? Bono had has lyric notebook pinched in a Portland, OR dressing room on tour after the first album, someone left the demos for Achtung Baby in their hotel room, and now Edge loses his copy of the new album.

BTW, anyone else heard Negativland's twisted take of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For?

How much are you selling that lyric notebook for?

The "lyric notebook" is little more than various obscene reworkings of the title "I will Follow", such as "I Will Swallow" and "I Will Wallow (In Your Deep Dark Places)"

And I'm selling it for $4,000 or best offer :D :faint: :evil4:

Alas, I could not make it into said gig, as it was held in a bar, The Foghorn, and I wasn't old enough to attend, same as with the Bunnymen the same year at Luis' La Bamba.

Like i said,10. Thats how many you named! Maybe i was a little harsh, but i think ive got a valid point-theyve been going roughly the same time as JD/NO,yet who has the better back catologue, and who gets the biggest praise? Our beloved New Order have a lot better stuff, but its U2 that are world superstars!

Not that im complaining,i prefer NO this way! :thumb:

This just in:

The song called "Original of the Species" on U2's new album is about that "original of a species that later became goth," Joy Division. Just look at the lyrics and you'll see what I mean:

"Baby slow down The end is not as fun as the start Please stay a child somewhere in your heart

I'll give you everything you want Except the thing that you want You are the first one of your kind

And you feel like no-one before You steal right under my door And I kneel 'cause I want you some more I want the lot of what you got And I want nothing that you're not

Everywhere you go you shout it You don't have to be shy about it

Some things you shouldn't get too good at Like smiling, crying and celebrity Some people got way too much confidence baby

I'll give you everything you want Except the thing that you want You are the first one of your kind

And you feel like no-one before You steal right under my door I kneel 'cause I want you some more I want the lot of what you got And I want nothing that you're not

Everywhere you go you shout it You don't have to be shy about it, no And you'll never be alone Come on now show your soul You've been keeping your love under control

Everywhere you go you shout it You don't have to be shy about it Everywhere you go you shout it Oh my my

And you feel like no-one before You steal right under my door I kneel 'cause I want you some more I want you some more, I want you some more..."

Err...maybe not, but I mean, look at those lyrics. Barney could write (and has) better scribblings than that. And Bono pisses hisself over an old notebook. Wanker.
