AIR! i've never seen them live, but they're one of my favourite bands. also the chemical bros. i've heard others say they're boring, but i love seeing them live, myself.

Great line up! Some of he bands I saw this year and that I would definitely check out: *Brian Wilson (he's a bit ...ehm... rusty...but what a fantastic band!) *Kraftwerk *Air (I wasn't sure what to expect, but they were great) *Belle & Sebastian
It's an astonishing line up. You can't possibly miss Kraftwerk. If I were you I'd catch Brian Wilson and Lou Reed too, although whether they'll be any good or not is I suppose questionable. Oh, and you have to see the PSB and the Chems. The Charlatans are on fine live form just now too. And I quite like Snow Patrol. And Franz Ferdinand. You should probably check out Wire too. If you can ignore the laws of time and space, you have to catch Arthur Lee as well.
Er, but don't miss Kraftwerk whatever you do.

If the weather is good, Somerset House is a gorgeous place to see a band play - I saw aforementioned Tindersticks there in 2002, swooning under the stars.......
A low-key NO show there next summer would be perfect.....

Ive already seen KW this year, but will still go see them again anyway, Love were only so-so in dublin, and if only i could see Air too (might be able to skip the whole space-time thing), id love to see PSB and Chemicals on the big stages,Brian Wilson and Lou Reed too, I dont have much of an idea RE DJs, but the lads im heading with should do. Ill be sure to see tindersticks - only ever heard 3 songs, but i like them all.
Its basically a 5 day festival - Djs on the thurdsay, lineup acts on Friday-saturday- Sunday, and a beach party on the monday. Sounds better than the Shite that masqurades as festivals we get in Ireland. The lineup looks funcking great. Will ATR be there? or does he only do the british Isles?

The line-up is one of the best I've ever seen for a Festival. More chance of the sun shining bright all w/e too than you'd get at Glasto. You'll have a great time.
Was chatting with ATR only last Friday about this Fest. He tried to find a hotel near the site and couldn't get anything, everywhere booked up. We're past this camping carry-on [geddit?] so will have to give it a miss.
Am going to Air at RFH next week. Would have preferred Somerset House but already got tix for them once so not gonna bother again. Hopefully RFH/SH will suit them better than the wind and rain in Finsbury Park!. Have you got their Walkie Talkie album Hac? any good?
Clockwork, just seen your last comment about whether ATR only does the British Isles?!. There's a few of us will have chuckled at that. I dont know anyone who's done more European travel in the pursuit of bands than him.
He was in Slovenia recenly watching Kraftwerk even though he'd seen all 6 of their British Isles gigs a few weeks before. Al Jarvis, myself and a few others went all over Europe with him in 2001/02 for NO. He drove the Chameleons tour bus around Germany for the band, went to Greece for The Fall and to a number of countries following Puressence. He came with me and another lad round Germany last summer for Ladytron and Client, took over all driving duties and did a good 2000 kms in 5 days caining the arse off the hire car on the autobahns. One night on the trip, in Cologne, Interpol were playing a small club the same night Ladytron & Client were playing. First off he pursuaded Ladytron to go on stage 1 hour later than scheduled so not to clash with Interpol then used one of his contacts in Cologne [!], a local band photographer, who he'd met on some other euro tour he'd been on, to get us on the guestlist of the Interpol gig which was well sold out. We ended up getting to see both bands in the same night. The geeza is a well travelled 'ardcore legend.
THat is quite legendary. To be honest - I dont think I could enjoy a concert with a minidisc tucked into my top pocket.
He should release a boxset - the EUR ATR. I hear theres plenty of hotels in Barcelona and you can get 1 day tickets.

I'll mention the box set idea, he'll like that!. I doubt he can remember what it's like to be at a gig WITHOUT a DAT machine stuffed down his kecks.
It's a bit of a trot from Barca down to Beni innit? Thought Beni was nr Valen-thia. Did that journey by train 3 years ago to see Leeds play in the Champs League semi and was a good 3 hours. Getting back at the end of the day could be a prob an all. Or are there tickets + travel arrangements available from Barca? any info gratefully received.
My friend is organising it - we are heading via london - easyjet from luton (future ammo for Uncle Liam and the boys in Union debates :) )to Barcelona on thursday, according to him, get a bus to the train station, and a train to bennicassim - there will be specials laid on.
the lad organising it says coach transfers will be laid on (hes been there the last 3 years), all night - not 100% sure though , cause were camping till the next monday.
If I was you (or ATR) id :
-check Ryanair/Easyjet for cheapo flights -if so get tickets on www.fiberfib.com -maybe head back to Barcelona/valencia that night on bus and get an early flight home the next morning?

This is who i recommend seeing, for what it's worth. I wish i was going, but i'm stuck here in Australia (not that there's anything wrong with that).
