Duran Duran have done it. The Pogues, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, Doobie Brothers and Happy Mondays are all reforming too.

But the big news is that one 80s band no-one ever thought would be getting back together are in "early discussions."

The Smiths.

:( Personally not a fan of the smiths (Morrisey really), and will never forget how shit the happy mondays were in Ireland 4 years ago (I missed leftfield to see them :( )

Yeah, that would be good. Im afraid us newbies will only ever be treated to the phil n dawn show - but at least "the other 3" are still around - and not beating up female members of the band (a refrence to Shaun there)

Well, Morrisey once said that no-one had ever put any money on the table for the Smiths to reform. So if that's really all there is to it, the promoters should be queueing up to get a piece of the action. Somehow, the cynic in me says that despite all the "differences" between the members, the $$$ will be there and they'll come back. I will be the first in the queue...

They could call it "The Filthy Lucre Tour"...:D

Everybody says Morrissey's a cunt... But Morrissey is also the guy who went years without a recording contract because he refused to sign without his band.

I agree, mostly. I quite like boomslang, its not great, but most of it is listenable.

And if they did get back together, it would a be a disaster almost bordering that of the mondays decision to reform. And i dont think morrissey is quite as skint as shaun ryder.

Morrisey is doing very well for himself on his own, his Album has been number one in the indie chart for months and is still in the top 40 main charts. His singles have both gone top 10 too. For anybody who was at Move and saw him live he truly was amazing that gig was better than any footage I have seen from the Smiths.

I am a huge Smiths fan but I would want to see them to get back together because it won't be the same. The Smiths worked in the 80's but too much has changed since.

A Flock Of Seagulls are still together I know there was a Frankie Goes To Hollywood reunion but they never made it on stage
