5 hour drive. Listened to the new album once so Wifey and i would be prepped. This was the second time I played the disc. Tickets said gates openned at 3 pm. Guy at parking lot gate said parking not available til 330 pm. It was 2 pm. Drive to nearby convenience store and buy beer. Park across from Tweeter next to Goth kids.

Drizzle. Feared rain but was prepared with rain poncho, Walmart $3 hat and Wifey's umbrella. Camera smuggled in but Wifey had to return umbrella to the Jag.

Sat in lawn dead center next to rail. Great view with binoculars.

Mogwai first up. Pretty kewl instrumental guitart noise. Dope would help.

The Rapture played next. best cowbell/sax/synth player I have ever seen. Crowd got on their feet.

Interpol next. Powerful. More confident than the last time I saw them. Still need to learn a few other chords or maybe the singer needs an acoustic guitar instead.

The Cure opened with Lost, very fitting after Interpol given the repeative one chord issue. Plainsong next. No songs from Bloodflowers. No A Forest either. Fat Bob has guitar/amp issue during Pictures of You. Close Down next and guitar issue is amplified with keyboard issue. After consulting with the person on the keys Bob stares at his monitor for the remainnder of the song. Guitar swap on Before Three resolves the problems.

New songs sounded much better live than on disc. New appreciation for lost, The end of the World and Promise. The promise ended the set, great choice.

Listened to KOLN 2001 on the way home. Photos forth coming.

Of interest was the text messages displayed on the screens inbetween bands. Someone posted "I miss New Order."

So do I.

I'll have something to add to this thread as of this coming weekend! Currently watching Trilogy DVD and Show video to prep myself.

Curiosa was here in Dallas a couple of days ago. Wasn't able to make it. Anybody else here go?

his holliness, the seattle show at the gorge has been cancelled/postponed. dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing for you, but ive heard its like a million miles away from seattle. some radio station in you area is going to give a new date for the show soon.

my curiosa experiences....fucking wonderful.

aside from the cure, we only really saw the rapture once and interpol at all four shows. we didnt want to bother with hanging out all day. but i am glad i saw the rapture, they rocked live. i should pick up a cd. interpol was really good all 4 times. they have this one song where the intro is a complete rip off of 24 hours.

And this comes on the day when one of my friends from high school calls me out of the blue and asks me to meet up with her because she's going to the show, too!

Well, hopefully they'll reschedule it for closer to Seattle than the middle of the fucking desert Gorge. Oh, and if they dropped the other bands and made it a Cure-only show to compensate--that would be even better!

And now that I think of it, Mogwai covered JD's Twenty-Four Hours before live, but I've never been able to find an mp3 of it, if a bootleg does exist.

Well, the rescheduled show (now billed "An Evening with The Cure," like the Mexico shows) is a week later, only about an hour away from me (closer than Seattle!), and doesn't involve all those other Curiosa bands that I didn't care to see. Now we get a small indoor arena and probably a decently long setlist, unlike the Curiosa shows. Looks like things are working out after all--even better than before! :D

You lucky bastard!! You'll get a 3 hour set! tinley park had a great set, alot of Distintegration, some good new tunes and mix of poppy stuff. They played Inbetween Days followed with Just Like Heaven. Edge of the Deep Green Sea too

Alright kids...sorry I didn't post sooner but I've been in the midst of moving lately.

Okay, the Everett show was fantastic. The band came on a bit late, which cost us a few songs during the last encore, but only one of which I'd really have liked to see (Going Nowhere). Pretty basic setlist for the main set, but then 5 encores! The first few encores were my favorite part of the show for sure, consisting of songs from Faith, Boys Don't Cry, and Seventeen Seconds. My only real complaints about the show were that they ended with the cheesy pop enema of Why Can't I Be You?, but that was due to time constraints so okay; the other complaint was that only ONE song was from Pornography, which was perhaps one of the best performances of the night. MORE PORNOGRAPHY!! The Bloodflowers encore was a nice gesture since they skipped Seattle on the last tour, though I could've done with a different song than 39. Well, one of the best shows I've ever seen, even if I was struggling to see past some wide fucker wearing flannel and a trucker hat the whole time.

you lucky bastard. they only did two encores in l.a. and one in san diego. the l.a. show did have 100 years and siamese twins so that was a treat.

Damn, 5 encores?!?!?!?!?!? 4 in Chicago a few years back on the BF tour. I agree, 39 needs to be retired. Kinda getting tired of 100 Years since there are other songs from pornography that could be played.
