I was about ready to put my foot through the monitor. Freaking pop ups and bullshit constantly. Went into Windows/Systems to manually delete the exe files and I watch these bastards propagate as fast as I could delete them. Finally wised up and restarted in safe mode to run AdAware 6 and HiJackThis. Killed the bastards.

I usually run Adaware once a week Chris, usually does the job. The problem I've got at the moment is spam on my works email. I've started using Spy Inspector but if you try and Bounce a mail back to sender it says they have an invalid account.

Usually not an issue. But it was something the kids picked up. 4 bastards that went to Systems.

Stop visiting porn.

I always run Adware after I view porn. Porn just leaves a sextracker cookie and I always hit the same pornsites. TeaTimer warns about hijackers ect but Wifey and kids probably ignore. These bastards hit during a non-porn stretch--basically children playing and searching for games. We were getting pop ups on desktop. Wowex32 or something.

Cheers for the info Twisty, I will try running the computer on safe mode and using adaware at the weekend, fingers crossed I can get rid of the bastards:thumb:

Just to be sure also, I use Pop Up Stopper which is free and self updates and I've disabled the Messenger service in Computer Management ( if you use XP ).

As Conor says above, Mozilla is great for stopping pop ups, I use this instead of internet explorer, it takes a bit of getting used to but it seems to do the trick, I also run spywareblaster to keep any sneaky bastards getting in, thanks to Clive for that link.

Both can be found on http://www.download.com:thumb:

Normally, I have no issues with pop ups. Sites that have mega pop ups are sites that I tend not to visit especially the Geoshitties sites. Really hate to have to add yet another program to protect my pc.

Hey the flu is no joke anymore; well at least in China it's getting really serious. The strain of the bird flu is appearing for the first time now in pigs, which'll make it easier for humans to contract it.

Finally got round to installing Mozilla, cause I was having some problems with IE as well. Damn, damn glad I dumped MS.

Ah the joys of not getting *any* viruses or spyware here on the yellow-and-grey side of the OS fence. And yet we still have Firefox, and the rise of viruses on Windows means more and more people use it, and more sites support it.

So us BeOS users *benifit* from IE being crap. Lovely.

I think that a lot too; my comp's on its last legs and stuff keeps going wrong with it. Some days I could throw it out the window.
