Do you understand What is been Said by NOOLers on the other side of the Atlantic?

Is it just me, or is there need for a google bar on BCD to deal with the various references to American personalities like Rick Moranis, Janet Reno, Sean Hannitty, Caroline coulter? I haven’t an Idea who these people are. Likewise, Im sure those of you in the Americas haven’t the foggiest Idea who Fred Elliot from Coronation Street, I said Fred Elliot, Alan Partridge, Ricky Grevais, Steven Morris , and Phil Mitchell off Eastenders are.

What are your favourites?

Mine is Sean Hannitty. Ive no idea who he is, and gather I don’t want to.

A lot of our tv the past few years has consisted of remakes of British shows... no wonder it's shite. :p

US TV is not so bad as long as one has digital cable (regular cable just won't do) or satellite. Hundreds of fookin channels so one should be able to find what he/she wants to watch.

That's kind of the reason for my monicker. Was blathering about when on 'It's Gary Shandling's Show' they always introduce someone as the guest star(Hank Wiseass) and you're like whilst the audience applauds vigourously. He may well of been parodying other shows by doing it with nonentities, for all I know.

I don't understand what they are saying north of London!

I guess it works both ways. I've certainly learned quite a lot about American politics from reading all these threads, but a lot of it means nothing to me, I Must admit.

Some of it I do, there's some I don't, there'll always be a certain few who will remember Ricky Gervais and The Office winning a couple of Golden Globe awards and showing up on tv last year. Gotta admit though, that I've learned more about, say, Emile Heskey than I would've if I'd just read ESPN and their football coverage.
