Did I just dream or did Argentina eliminated the USA's dream team 89-81 in the basketball semi-finals?

I can laugh all I can, when you think basketball was invented in Canada, we're not even there ;)

I'll be up at 8 in the morning cheering on the Argentinian football team in the final:nod:

The United States had that coming...

Good luck to Argentina in the fitba final (kicking off in just a few hours at some ungodly time...what is that all about??). Haven't seen much of the football tournament, unfortunately, but they were a joy to watch against the Italians.

thank you thank you! ;)

that shows (again) that having the best players doesn´t make the best team. the NBA players showed that. just individual efforts and no team work. we played very well and managed to beat the dream (?) team again, after being the first ones ever to do it on the last world cup. now we´ll face Italy. we already lost with them so it will be tough as well. it wouldn´t be the first time that we achieve a major winning and then loose the next game. let´s hope this is not the case! :skeptic:

and about football. well, we had a tough game against Paraguay on the pre-olympic tournament (2-1 on the last few minutes). so it´s gonna be tough again. Paraguay always been historically hard for us. but i have faith in them. :thumb:

err, we didn´t play female basketball.... anyway, aren´t you the best players and supposed to win EVERYTHING?

btw, we just beated Paraguay in football and got a gold medal after 52 years! besides, our football team never won a gold medal before. it was the only title remaning for us to win. good job! now, let´s pray for the basketball team to beat Italy. another tough game!

Well done to Argentina for an excellent game. Dunno who would ever claim any of the current US players as part of any Dream Team though, except for Duncan and maybe Iverson. This year's squad isn't anywhere as close in total talent as the US had in 92, which is the only Dream Team I care to think about in terms of international competition.

Any team with Allen Iverson is bound to do well but not great. I remember, in 2001, when the 76ers were playing the Lakers. The city was hyped up that Iverson was going to make the Sixers win, but, after they won the first game, the Lakers won the rest. If Iverson weren't so complacent, they might have done better.

Let this be a lesson to the powers that be that pick the USA basketball team...bring a couple of outside shooters next time...

I think you gotta feel bad for Larry Brown: he just got done vanquishing the hate-able Lakers, and now he's had his ass handed to him in the game that we invented, simply because he couldn't get any high-paid superstars to lower their egos enough for team basketball.

And that's about the only Olympics take I got; this week the Repubs will be in NYC. Something tells me a riot's gonna go down :boxer: :banghead:

errr, if i have the right info you brazilians NEVER won gold on the olympics in those sports, right?

don´t be jelaus, you´re still the bests in football. who can deny that?

now, the next time it will be better if you even QUALIFY to the olympics first! :evil4:

claps to both of our national teams. but i´m sure we all enjoyed more the basketball medal than the football medal. i mean, basketball DESERVED to win after the controversial final on the last world championship. besides, they´re the only ones who beated the NBA´s twice and won the olympic final for 15 points. on the other hand the football team didn´t have any oponements really. so there was a notion that the medal was already won beforehand.

Well done Argentina  . Although i must say i wasnt impressed by the quality of football i saw on the final, but hey, it was a barbaric time for a match (10 am for christs sake !!!) and after all Argentina was the best by far in the tournmanet... Thats the good news. The bad news? Seems to me that ure gonna get stucked for 2 more years with this unbelievable coach of ures, u surely dont deserve - LOL. As for basketball, what i saw from Argentina certainly satisfied my hunger for energetic, brave and good team play. As for the US team, no wonder why they lost. They thought they'd win the tournament only with their names, but thank god, sport isnt like that ;) . Next time they really decide to win the Olympics, one thing they have to do, and everything is gonna be too easy for them, since they still are the best by far individually: Finally prepare properly, work as a team, in 2 words behave like real basketball players (a piece of gossip here: no one of them slept before 5 am in their hotel suites, they were too busy having a good time in Athens :D ).

oh yeah. that´s always the bad part of winning with Bielsa. that Bielsa will continue! :nonono:
