I was just thinking the other day about how many great bands have come from Australia. So name off some good ones, people.

I'll start with my own favorite,

Dead Can Dance

I love The Triffids just about as much as New Order, and I've been a long time fan of The Church as well.

Haven't really paid attention that much over the last decade or so, but I also gotta mention:

Hunters And Collectors

The Scientists (they did have a compilation CD on Sub Pop)

Hoodoo Gurus

Birthday Party/Nick Cave/Rowland Howard/Mick Harvey

Beasts Of Bourbon

Never cared too much for the singer for Died Pretty though.

Here's one I don't listen to personally, but you can't deny that they've helped make the world safe for big dumb rock: AC/DC.

The only member of AC/DC that was australian was Bon Scott and their first bass player, the rest of them are from the U.K.

I know Rowland S Howard, he released his first solo album "Teenage Snuff Film" a couple of years ago, great version of Billy Idol's "white wedding" on it and did the soundtrack to "He Died With A Felafel In His Hand" (the book is better). Met up with him two months ago, said he was going to Sydney to do a four track E.P. which would be great, except he's "tied to the tracks", don't know if he will ever stop, but he is the sweetest guy you could meet, but i never want to get involved in his world. This is his WEBSITE.

I can't believe INXS is going to do that reality TV show to find a new singer. How stupid is that? I guess the money ran out for them a LONG time ago to stoop that low! :nonono:

I don't give a monkeys about Antipodean music, but I wanted to post here because His Holiness, The Pope started & contributed later to this thread, & I just wanted to let him know that he is a fucking cunt.

Remember how Spy vs Spy were sued by Mad magazine so they changed their name to Spy vs Spy vs? Hoodoo Gurus is spelt correct, their only decent album was their first from 1984 "Stoneage Romeos", it's so sad that they changed "What's My Scene" to "That's My Team" for the fucken NRL. It's JoJo Zep by the way and Dragon were a Kiwi band. It seems every Kiwi band that has success here is automatically adopted as "Australian", Pacifier (formerly Shihad, but changed it because it rhymes with Jihad) being the latest.
