So I just bought The Libertines. Anybody else heard this band? Mick Jones (their producer) says it's the most important record of this generation. Anybody agree? Disagree? Hijack this thread?

Ignored the hype. Avoided the tabloids. Heard the record, best band since the Strokes. I like and will like even more in six months time.

I have both Up The Bracket and The Libertines, as much as I enjoy their singles the albums don't quite do it for me, although there are a few good songs in between.

First album was very very Clashlike, and yes I know Mick Jones produced it, but it didn't grab me like the Clash did. Second album is worth buying for 2 songs, Can't Stand Me Now and Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads.

More of an AYE than a NAE:)

Bought the first one at Target cause it was only 8 dollars, not a bad deal at all. Haven't played it for awhile though, so this is another more aye than nay vote.

Dunno about "London Calling", "The Libertines" is London Redial!! I keep expecting to hear Jimmy Jazz any second. Quality stuff that has put a smile on my face.

I'd heard one song of them. The song was good, but I don't like them much. One day a friend of mine made me laugh, he said to me "Every British band called THE blah blah after 90s is no good" :D

I think they're fooking shite. All hype and image and attitude but no decent fookin tunes.

It's just the Emperors new clothes all over again. Pah! Give them a year and the NME will start pulling another band out of their sweaty grolluck to champion....

And as for that smackhead guitarist Pete..... talk about trying to contrive himself the image of a poor mans Sid Vicious....pathetic!
