Released today, two incentives to actually buy it are a) crystal clear stereo sound (unlike the leaked version) and b) access to "exclusive content" starting off with an mp3 of a newly recorded 'Song Seven'.

And I know I've poo-pood the comparisons before, but 'Length Of Love' really does sound like Joy Division... :ignore:

Even on this new album? (I haven't heard any of it yet) I've heard (read) that it was a departure from the sound of their earlier effort.

Sounds like Joy Division? Ok, then, but... Barney is not a brilliant guitarrist, but do the guy from Interpol know more than a chorde now?

Good point. Let's hope so.

But to be sure, I certainly won't buy an album based on how much a band sounds like JD. That's like boring or something...

I only meant that one track sounds like JD. In general, the album has a much more "up" sound to it than 'Turn On The Bright Lights'.

Released today you say?

Hum... if I would have known, I would have stopped by the record store...!!

Yeah, they need to end that one chord constant. Seriously though, when he jams its great but for most of every song its "wha, wha, wha, wha." Watching them live you think "wow, these guys are awesome." But afterwards its like amnesia for all you remember is that one chord. But watching them live is a pleasure. I plan to see them next month in Minneapolis.

One chord? That's a new one by me... One of the things I like about Interpol is the chord changes.. I suppose it could be different inversions and modulations of the same note's chords, but the contrasts of switching from majors to minors to..uh.."augmented", "dimished"...whatever.. chords is good enough for me. I've heard many people complain that "all Hooky does is octaves" over the years. All I can say is that if it sounds good and makes me feel something, I don't care too much if it's one chord, 3, 5... or even no chords whatsoever... I dunno, that's just my point of view, they bring feelings out of me, and that's what music is meant to do.

I loved the first Interpol album (although i didn't notice any JD comparisions on it) and can't wait to here the new one, but it will probably take six months to get released down here.

Where have you been? It's been in circulation for at least three months. It's what Soulseek and WinMX were invented for...

I'm looking forward to hearing the new stuff.

IT IS one chord for each music, he doesnt change chords during a song, what sounds repetitive. I havent seem good reviews for the album, I might hear the songs carefully before put money on it. I read something saying that the words are a bit cheesy and the songs are quite different - a concept album??

Well, I haven't heard that..I've heard different chords... Can you give an example of a song where they use only one chord? I just don't hear it..many of the chords have some notes in common, but, for instance, PDA has a very different sound at the end than it does at the beginning, as does Obstacle 1, and Leif Ericson starts out with two different chords alternating. Do you mean there's not a key change? Because that's possible, but I'm hearing different chords all over the place...albeit many of them sound closely related, but that's one of the interesting things for me, subtle chord changes and different melodies at different points in the song, shifting rhythms...I'm not sure how someone could find it "repetitive". Although, if you're after lots of obvious changes, Mr Bungle is a great band to give a listen...the changes aren't quite so subtle.:)

Got it today, I hope it's as good as the previous one, so I have high hopes....

Paid 17$ for this (CDN), and I saw Turn On The Bright Lights at almost the double of that... a shame really, I'd love to actually buy that one someday.

I think Interpol is full of promise in the "style", so I'll listen to that!

Based on a first few listens, tracks 8 and 9 are the high points.

I can't make my mind up if I like the new album or not. First time I heard 'bright lights' I loved it but tyhat wasn't the case with antics.

I only heard it from a winMX copy though so may invest in it anyway.

It doesn't have the immediate appeal the first one did, but I do like the tracks I mentioned above.

My girlfriend has it and she gives it 4 out of 5, so it's got to be good.

Well, so far, I can say there is no real high points for me... except maybe track #1, but that does sound like some Pearl Jam to me.

It seems the rest is almost just one big song... maybe it's just me.

Since I paid for it, I'll make sure it's on heavy rotation and see if it grows.. it's not bad, but there is no hook like Turn On The Bright Lights.. where Untitled, NYC and Obstacle 1 & 2 where the highlights for me.

It's not improving on further listening. Track 9 is the only one that doesn't sound like a vastly inferior version of something from the first album.

I was too hasty. I'm liking it more.

At first I thought the album was utter shit, but when I started listening to it when I was dog tired and about to sleep, the album began to really grow on me. I like every track right now, maybe I'll go back to hating it.

Goddamn make up your minds!! Does the lp suck or not? I saw them in August, totallty awesome but seemed like one long ass song. I may see them next week in Minneapolis.

It's sounding better and better.

It's not a bad album, it just doesn't have a standout track IMHO.

Agreed, nothing on the order of Obstacle 1 or PDA, but what other recent stuff is more worth listening to?

Don't shoot the messager!

Believe it or not, I actually enjoy Linkin Park

I only know 4 songs though, might be difficult to judge from that experience.

It's time to get a new New Order or Coldplay album...

I confess that I did actually buy something by Linkin Park, but did I listen to it? I can't remember...

In The End and Numb are 2 very good songs...

At least, I like the style... but that's me.

I seem to recall liking In The End. I don't recall Numb.
