Why does America still bother making cars? Why?

But don't you think it's evocative of the Aston Martin V8*, not to mention Steve McQueen's --ahem, Bullitt's-- Mustang?

* Or is the '05 Mustang evocative of the Aston Martin, which in turn is evocative of the 66 Mustang...?

Evokative of shite looking cars in the 70s, which in retrospect look much better than the shite looking cars running around today.

ex: Scion xB and Honda Element :nonono:

Oh, not all American cars are ugly. My Mercury Cougar is quite attractive, but I think it's based on a European design!

Oh, and it might have been assembled in Canada, now that I think of it!

The new Mustang is MUCH better looking than previous models, and I think it will do well, but too bad it needs to be Fixed Or Repaired Daily and the Fucker Only Rides Downhill.

BTW I do like Fords, just had to get the jokes out. My dream car is actually an Aston Martin, any model would make me happy.

Ah yes! I loves me some new Mustang. I wish it had come out about ten years earlier. But, if Uncle Henry was able to get 25 years out of the Fox platform, then more power to him.

My only disappointment is with the solid rear axle. Albeit a sophisticated one, there was no reason not to use an IRS. Ford said drag racers like the durability of the solid axle, but it really was just a cost saving move. And, they have an IRS out of the Lincoln LS/Jaguar S Type ready to go. Oh well, you'll just have to cogh up when the Cobra comes out to get the IRS.

What I'm really salivating over is the new Daytona Coupe that will come out when the GT(40) ends it's production run. Damn it's sexy!

I really hope some privateers prep a few GT's for Le Mans.......

I saw the Mustang and the GT at this years Dallas International Auto Show. They look even better in person. :thumb:

It reminds me of the 69 Pony. Best looking Mustang in decades. Suspension seems a little cheap for a car of that image. Ford had to cut costs somewhere and the Jag platform was available.

But as mentioned earlier, the GT 40 and the Cobra concept are the ones to get if you have the coin. However, I would not mind 05 Pony in my garage next to my XJ-S.

EASILY...the best looking 'Stang' in a loooooooooong time!!!

I have been wanting to get one myself since I first saw them last year as built concepts.

:blush::love2:

And for the record...I've drivin' the shit out of my Ford ST for 50,000 miles...and I have NEVER even remotely had a problem with it. (But I still joke about the damn thing...it DOES have a fat ass!!) :laugh:
