Hey look - a thread that's not about US politics!
A few months ago there was a thread on Australian bands - it's time for the truth be told about the best Australian band ever.
Are any other NOOLers (particularly non-Aus ones) familiar with the band TISM (This Is Serious, Mum)? If not, let me set the scene - 7 balaclava-clad men (only 3 of which actually play instruments), increasingly outlandish costumes, stage props and exhausting choreographed dance routines to hammering industrial techno/rock/funk. The wittiest lyrics since - well, ever (probably). Oh, there's also usually some genuinely hilarious ranting poetry, lots of swearing, stage diving and lyrical references to classical literature.
So just the usual stuff for a pub band, then.
Any band who call their debut album "Great Truckin' songs of the Renaissance" has got to be worth investigating, don't they? Great song titles include:
-If you're creative, get stuffed -The Ballad of John Bonham's coke roadie -Saturday Night Palsy -All Homeboys are Dickheads -I might be a cunt, but I'm not a fucking cunt -You're only five yards from a fuckwit
....I could go on.
Although many of their somgs are Australian-based (and in many cases, Melbourne-based), the themes remain universal. Do yourself a favour, as they say.
Oh, they also have a song called "Cerebral Knieval", which musically is an homage to New Order (Hooky bass and Steve-like drum patterns). And another song called "Almost Blue by Ian Curtis".
Now, back to politics...
