Good evening NOOL's.I have some sad news from PLANET ROCKET.My dad died late on TUESDAY night. In fact he died at 23:00 which as my brother said...typical,he waited to LAST ORDERS!Actually he never had a drink problem like my older brother or me has.But i need a little light relief from all this sorrow. It was only that same evening that i had been listening to FATHER AND SON by CAT STEVENS so that will stay in my heart. So what i want (I KNOW IT MAY HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE) you to do is remember ANY times you have met a CELEBRITY,cos it is time like these we realize who the REAL IMPORTANT PEOPLE are in the world. My first time was in 1975 when i was in AUSTRIA,a place called SEEFELD,near INNSBRUCK.There who should be toddling along but a well known soap star at that time was ALBERT TATLOCK.Now i know most of you will have no idea who he is but he was from CORONATION STREET,an old guy who played KEN BARLOW'S grandfather. Now this was a guy who never left the street, let alone go abroad. Then you realize he is just an old guy off on his holiday away from the crowds.Me,being about 17 at this time ,could not help but shout out....ALBERT TATLOCK how is ENA(SHARPLES)- another soap star!He looked at me like, shit,i came all this way and they are still bugging me.We spent thes rest of that evening drinking lager which was good and boring everyone we met with tales of ALBERT! These days i meet HOOKY,STEVE AND GILLIAN and still get a BUZZ from it.But meeting DAVID DIDDY HAMILTON or ALAN PRICE from the ANIMALS or even DEV from CORRIE doesn't seem to have the same affect. Now when i once met ALEX HIGGINS on BOLTON train station before he had won the world title at snooker was a good experince. But this whole CELEBRITY culture is rather strange. How should you react.I know in the case of HOOKY it was cool.A brief encounter whereby i said .."You did well tonight",thanked him for giving me so much pleasure throughout my life etc and him shaking my hand and saying "No problem" And it isn't.But have you any RELEVANT...i know mine are obscure ones,CELEBRITY SPOTTING. Now i get it in reverse...people get well upset when they meet ROCKET MICK!But that is the PRICE OF LOVE......... Rocket Mick RESPECT DAD BUT YOU DIDN'T HALF MAKE A BAD ONE
CELEBRITY spotting..

Cheers MIKE I am ok and just needed a bit of company without wanting to go out and get BLASTED.Spent the days walking the dog and reflecting on LIFE.Great show you sent and enjoyed the interview he did.In the promo on FATHER AND SON is that a girl or a boy with LONG HAIR?Weird but never seen it before. Regards ROCKET MICK
Sorry to hear your news Mick. Still keeping your chin up I see.
As for celebrities, I once took a leak next to Dave Gedge. And got Bobby Zamora's autograph. And I used to deliver Mark Wright's paper when he played for Southampton. OK, I know you said celebrities, but it's the best I could do...
MARK WRIGHT....that reminds me of when my son served RAZOR RUDDOCK and his blonde girlfriend at McDONALDS in CHORLEY.He said RAZOR bought her a HAPPY MEAL,and she was rather TASTY. Cheers OLD BLUE
Sorry about your loss... I fear that day myself and enjoy all the moments I can! My dad is currently 63 and I sure hope he'll be there for another 20!
Sorry about the news, condolences. Celeb spotting, Joe Johnson in a newsagents in a dodgy part of Bradford not long after he won the world title. Frazer Hines (dire soap star) in a casino in Bradford. Alex Higgins also, in an early house in Dublin. Liam Neeson,Aidan Quinn and Natasha Richardson at a Blackjack table in Antigua. Only ever met one and that was Hooky, "how you doing lad" my reply "err, alright"
Sorry to hear the news Mick - I will be on the phone in the next day or two, I will give you a bit of peace (for a change) for the next few days, mine and Tammy's thoughts are with you and the boys.
Deepest condolences. Unfortunately that's life you loose the one's you are close to. We all have our cross to bear, some sooner than others. All we can do, is to do what we have to and carry on the best we can.
Sorry to hear that mate - been almost 6 yrs to the day that my father passed away and the good thing is that the bad memories seem to fade and the good ones seem to become clearer the more time goes on. My best celebrity memory is meeting all of Depeche Mode on their Devotional tour in a small, underground club called The Playground in Cape Town in 93/94 - almost no-one else was there and could get up close. Fletch was a bit stand-offish, Alan Wilder was off his face and cracking onto every girl in there, Dave Gahan was surrounded by bodyguards and singing along to Led Zep songs, but Martin Gore was very approachable and friendly - had a good chat and he bought me a drink.

HOOKY - MANI - BEZ - NOEL GALLAGHER - BOBBY GILLESPIE - THAT FAT TWAT THAT USED TO BE IN EASTENDERS - BILL BAILEY - PAT NEVIN - CRAIG BURLEY (ALLEGEDLY) - HENRIK LARSSON - JACKIE MCNAMARA - SEVERAL MORE CELTIC PLAYERS - JOHN HIGGINS - JACK CHARLTON - IAN ST JOHN - PAT JENNINGS - JOCKY WILSON AND ROCKET BALDY HAVE ALL HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING SHUGZV.
Good night and God Bless from Corby![]()
Bummer, Mick. Sorry about your loss. My dad was a Cat Stevens fan. He purchases tea for the Tillerman when it came out. Love that album.
well im sorry to hear about your dad mick, sad news indeed. heres a celeb story you might relates too, years ago in chorley i was sat waiting for a bus on southport road(near cop shop). when who should come strolling by but "john fox" of ultravox, although he had left at the time and midge dure was in instead. as i clocked him walking by i proclaimed in my most calm and coolest manner "FUCK ME ITS JOHN FOX" (youre easily swayed at that age). he smiled and stopped and asked if we had a light,as none of us smoked we said no?. at which point he strolled off without so much as a by or leave. floppy haired ginger cunt.
SOUTHPORT ROAD- classic.Usually only get BILL BEAUMONT or REG from Corrie around these parts.Mind you i was in a pub in town recently-THE PRINCE OF WALES and DAVE SPIKE from PHOENIX NIGHTS was stood next to me.I wouldn't give him my autograph though!
Met the master knob twiddeler and spliff roller at most GLASTONBURY'S, yes I am talking - STEVE HILLAGE.
Also in my dreams I meet JULIETTE BINOCHE ![]()

Is that meet or meat?
Sorry to hear this news Mick.
Life is a balancing act sometimes, our mates Nicky and Bill had their first child yesterday, a boy called Thomas.
Celebrities I've met? Quite a few over the years. James Dean Bradfield every other five minutes the one day down Oxford Street, it got almost embarrassing bumping into him four times in one morning (and he wasn't stalking me either!), the rest of the Manics (inc. Richey), two Doctor Whos, King Vivian Richards, Ian Botham, Rick Wakeman, Eric Clapton (all four of these were sat in the same pub down the road from me one night), Nigel Kennedy, Brix, MES, Andrew Eldritch, ShugZV, Jon Marsh, Abi Titmuss, Tom Finney, Ian Rush, Alan Ball, Duncan McKenzie, Kevin Keegan, Brian Clough RIP, Mark Lamarr, Phill Jupitus, Elvis Costello, Kate Garraway, Stuart Adamson RIP, the Wedding Present, Guy Chadwick, New Order, Mick Gregson.
Hope you're keeping well, Mick - that's really shitty news.
As for celebs: I once danced like a drunken cunt onstage with Sir Bob Geldof. I think he liked my, er, "moves".....
Condolences Mick, we certainly weren't upset when we met you. Royally entertained more like.![]()
Normally I avoid celebrities when I see them but I had to serve Roger Millward and the Hull FC Rugby League team when I worked at a service station but managed to avoid David Essex at the same place. Drunkenly met a few minor bands, The Men they couldn't hang, terrorvision, blaggers ITA. Does knowing celebrities count? The only one I know is a minor celeb and is the actress who stood up at the mens urinals in The Full Monty, ............and no she can't.
Very sorry Mick to hear about your Dad. I lost my Dad 5 years ago and it still gets me sometimes where it hurts. He was my best mate.
My thoughts are with you tonight.
Celebritys?
Too many to mention.
But I did kiss Catherine Zeta Jones once.
We were only 13 though!
Still makes me smile to this day ![]()

Terrible news Mick, hope your staying positive. On the celebrity front, only ever met 2-Barney in Dry about 7 years ago and I spent 2 hours sitting opposite Cat Deeley on the train to London a couple of years ago-sat there hiding behind mt GQ mag the whole journey,i was so nervous! She smiled a lot and chit chatted now and again, god i was like a stuttering prick.
Sorry to hear your sad news Mick. I know how you must be feeling. Its my dear dads 3rd anniversary soon. All the best mate.
