You don't get professional footballers like him these days - pride, passion, and fun loving, he was a genuine, top bloke!
There have been too many untimely deaths of childhood heroes recently...

Bless him - I have been watching Sky Sports news most of the morning. Can't remember too much about him as a player, other than seeing video's. But his warm personality and humour definitely came across on A Question Of Sport.
He won every honour in the book. Say no more.

Remember after Liverpool won the European Cup they were parading it around the city and he bellowed into the mic " Liverpool are magic, Everton are tragic." That didn't go down too well with the blue half of the city. Seen him playing against Kettering for Wolves in a friendly many years ago. Not exactly a favourite among us Scots but credit where its due he had a fantastic playing career and he was some character.
When I first got into football in the early 70s, he was one of the rising stars of the game. What a character! Great defender, great personality. So long Crazyhorse, you'll never walk alone.
I thought he was named after Neil Youngs backing Band.

Seriously though the first time I went to Anfield was Emlyn's testimonial in 1977 when those type of games were deserved to the appropriate player concerned. RIP fella.

A cultured centre half, laft back, right back or central midfielder. A winner.

Legendary footballer, don't remember him as a midfielder though, just in his later years as a centre-half. Friend of mine still waxes lyrical about the ovation Hughes got when he returned to Anfield with Wolves.

Nah always thought Hughes was brilliant on QOS used to watch that without fail when i was a kid.
