The idea of aggressive and powerful electronic music being able to take listeners to the highest level of euphoria (when in the right hands) was realised in the form of Hard Trance like never before in 2004 – particularly in the early months of this year. The Dutch, in particular, have taken euphoric warm string pauses and hard brass crescendos to a totally different level. The Italians though, have been at their very best.

Every year I become more and more pessimistic as to how much the future can possibly hold, but these favourites of mine [below] still giver me hope, as well as making me wish more for New Order to allow the remixers more time to work their magic.

This may be a biased opinion since I've only gotten one just about this entire year!! (I was more concerned with actual LPs, DVDs and shit to be bothered by crap singles)

But DM's (Not Diggy Mike :nonono: ) Enjoy The Silence 04 has got my vote too!!

'twas a close call between Motorcycle, Agnelli & Nelson or Shapeshifters...but I think I actually listened to Lola's Theme the most this year...

and how the Boogie Pimps and/or Eric Prydz didn't even get a mention is beyond me!!!

My vote goes to Lola's Theme, but only the original version. The radio mix where they added extra vocals on was just wrong!

I forgot to cast my vote!

DJ Tatana vs The Mystery – ‘Soul Cry’ was an amazing 12” single, particularly The Mystery’s remix, the perfect blend of euphoric warm string solos blended in with ultra-aggressive as well as melodic hard brass crescendos. I don’t think it was released in the UK, but it still gets my vote, ahead of some brilliant records.

I wasn’t that impressed with the Eric Prydz sample ‘Call On Me’, but his remix of the Shapeshifters’ monster ‘Lola’s Theme’ was top drawer, a house anthem that instantly captured my imagination.

I also forgot to mention the forthcoming Benni Benassi single ‘Love is Gonna Save Us’, which shouldn’t be overlooked because of the deeply chauvinistic video to ‘Satisfaction’. A picture promo limited 12” single of ‘Love is Gonna Save Us’ was released in August.

That Depeche Mode mix sucks like a Hoover - I've heard some excellent mixes of Enjoy the Silence, but this one has to be the worst - simply awful.

Have not any of these tracks before this thread but ferry Corsten, Kraftwerk and DM, but I've dl-ed Jeff's and Biznotic's favored tracks and they are all top notch except for the Agnelli one IMO.

for maximum effect, make sure you get the Erol Alkan mix of Drop the Pressure and the Mylo mix of Chewing Gum. both mixes are specifically what makes those 12"s great.

There are still 12" singles being pressed? Whenever I look in the singles section at a record store, the singles are always in CD format. Then again, I haven't even heard of most of these songs.
