I dont know mission uk, but you must pick up stone roses. However, do not buy second coming first.

no question--stone roses. not even close! buy their eponymous album and you'll be more than pleased. ypu'll be elated.
and anytime you see 'UK' or 'london' before or after a band's name, please disregard it as it's the american record label's doing (because there once was an american band of the same name so they have to add the extra bit for legal reasons). as for the mission, my ex-flatmate in london dated wayne hussey back in the '80s...when she was 15 and he was in his 30s! she was a proto-goth in those days--now she's married with 3 kids, living in south london, and listening to R&B!

Whoa! That's crazy dude!
1)Did you ever question why she was dating a thirty-something rock star while being 15? What was her reply?
2)Why is she now listening to R&B? Is she white? If so, is she dating a black guy?
I like them

answers:
she was an, erm, precocious teenager, shall we say. she ran away from home in croatia at 14 to live with her older sister in london, so she was worldlier than most 15-year-olds.
her husband is black--jamaican/british to be exact. he was my other flatmate (they were dating when i lived with them).

Mate, please stop refering to them as Mission UK, it makes them sound like a foreign branch of some odd company. Nobody here is remotely aware of the existence of "The Mission, incestville".
Gotta say the Roses are better, I can vaguely remember liking one mission tune, but don't even know it's name, but I like a fair few stone roses tracks. Sort of comparing apples and oranges though. Definitely prefered the Sisters, This Corrosion is a masterwork, but I bet I'd cringe and not turn it up to New Order volume if I played it now.
Funny, in my school/social circles, the pretentious wankers who discovered and subsequently worshiped, and subsubsequently pretended they'd never heard of The Mission, were previously (and in many cases, concurrently and ongoingly) into another band.
Anyone care to guess?
Clue: NOT fat bob's lot.
PS....why all the double postage?
Must try and read the (microsoft mangled) source of the page and see wassup.
Definitely agree that the Sisters Of Mercy were better, both with and without Wayne Hussey. My brother and his wife used to follow The Mission and All About Eve everywhere, much the same as many of us have followed New Order.
The only Mission track I ever really liked was a cover - Neil Young's 'Like A Hurricane' which was a 'B' side I seem to remember.
I always had a soft spot for Bauhaus and would certainly recommend at least getting the 'best of' albums.
A good way to find some really excellent new music is via MySpace - listen for free and decide if you like it before you buy! ![]()
Edit: I'm not, and never have been a 'Goth'. I was in a band that did a 3 second thrash called 'Goths Are Alright Really'. The lyrics to the 'song' literally were: 'Bollocks!'

Because this thread dates from THREE YEARS ago, when double penetra-, err I mean posting was de rigeur around here...
Confession to make. Heard the radio the other week and two rather familiar songs came on "Wishing Well" and "Dream On". Neither of them were being sung by Wayne Hussey. I had to look up on tinternet to find out that they were probably the Gary Moore and Aeorsmith originals, that I had never heard, and hadn't realised The Mission hadn't written them!

I'll be flat-out honest.
I may be a goth, but I'm not quite a Mission fan.
