Well?

Yep, I like it!  It's good for finding stuff that you can't get on the likes of WinMX and Kazaa (both of which I use as well as Soulseek).

Kazaa is hell onearth. Fullof viruses and spyware.

Soulseek is bloody awesome for music.  WinMX has been flooded with fake DLs recently.

The great thing about SLSK is that there is absolutely no spyware on the program. Kazaa is absolute trash, because you practically have to trash your computer after you use it.

I also agree about the fake files...I haven't found any in the history that I have used SLSK...the users in soulseek tend to be very good about deleting fake files if they ever get them and they also seem to care about how they organize their files...kazaa users are idiots.

I've never had any problems with Kazaa or WinMX (apart from the odd wrongly named file) the whole time I've been using them.  Guess I've been lucky!

Miss Disco...go download the latest spyware program...Kazaa has inserted about a thousand spyware files into your computer...you are screwed...

Yeah, this is the end for your computer.

I feel so sorry for you

Well, I've checked my computer all the way through and there ain't no spyware on it (and yes, my checker is up to date).  It's Kazaa Lite I've got, which doesn't appear to have spyware - well, my copy hasn't any, at least.  The only thing that's ever filled my computer with spyware is Grokster, which my dad downloaded once.  Big mistake that turned out to be!  It took us over a year to get everything out of it.  DO  NOT download that program UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Is SoulSeek supposed to slow your computer down? Whenever I've had it on my computer (which I'd love to smash right now), it has slowed things down and takes forever to have a song download, even with an ethernet connection.

Can't say I've ever had that happen on my machine.  What can happen, though, is that other programs won't run at the same time; that's a known problem with it.  They recommend that you don't try to use anything else while Soulseek's running.  I know what you mean about wanting to smash your computer, too; mine's on its last legs and it's giving me more and more hassle.  Computers, eh?  Who'd have 'em?

In Soulssek, under Transfers, set your MAX D/L KBPS to 400.

I tried to piss about with the port forwarding and ended up breaking my router. Took a week to get a new one. I paid my $5 to queue jump too. Not sure whether it helped, but I was listening to WFTSC the same night :thumb:.

It's my friend I am talking about, of course, not me. I didn't do it. It was him and I don't approve.

:nono:

Didn't know what settings to use. It seemed to work best if I put a really low number like 10 in. I had no idea what I was doing though!
