Terry is dead soon?

Who the fook is Terry?
Oh yes, that poor woman with a brain made of mush who the Christian Right won't allow to die with dignity instead of being kept alive as a complete vegetable with no way to recover, even though her husband tried to get some experimental treatment done on her.
When the U.S. Congress intervenes in a SINGLE case like this (to keep her alive, for god's sake) but ignores the war atrocities in Iraq that they approved like a bunch of jingoistic hawks, you know that something is seriously wrong with priorities in America. This is all a religious issue...just the Republican rightwingers trying to push their holy agenda on the nation. A bunch of Jesus humpers only care about their own ridiculous values and ignore the rapacious practices going on under their very noses. This is not a good time to be anything in America other than a middle-to-upper class, Christian, Republican, heterosexual, able-bodied, white, European-descended male.
"I asked a doctor what it's like for people in Terri's state, and he told me this: "A normal person's brain activity is like an episode of 'Law & Order: SVU' where Detective Stabler takes the case too personal and puts everything on the line, including his badge. For someone in a vegetable state, Detective Stabler plays it by the book and lets his fellow detectives handle the load." As you can see from that medical explanation, people in vegetative states are simply not living at all."
It's pathetic...
It's nobody's business but her family's, even though her parents and [former] husband disagree. They should work it out between themselves and her doctors, and if they can't, the law decides who has the final say. The Christian right wing has hijacked this sad case and the Republican Congress have conveniently forgotten their own political propaganda to justify intervening on behalf of their Christian nutjob base.
The final coup de grace on the poor woman is that it's illegal to do anything merciful to end her suffering... all they can do is take her feeding tube and let her starve to death.
Fucking barbaric right-wing Christian values in America today....
Spring Kevorkian from jail.....he'd do it. Euthanasia is so much more humane than removing a feeding tube to let someone starve to death.
Dr. Death is in jail? Thought he just disappeared. What a goddamn evil death. For the sake of all that is good and right arrange a fucking morphine accident.
If Terry was a dog, the doctors would be arrested for letting her die like this. They put suffering animals to sleep out of mercy, but people they let starve to death...

Only proves the contradictions in the US of A. Euthanasia illegal, removing feeding tubes and life support legal. The same people wanting to keep this vegatable alive think nothing about executing prisoners. The people that want her to die thi9nk its a crime to kill terrorists and rapists and murderererererers.
Maybe it would be different if she was on life support. Machines to keep her breathing. Pulling the plug would be a quick and painless death. But all she is is a brain damaged human that cannot speak, communicate or feed herself. In essence, her IQ hit 0. But does she still have a soul?? So her husband wants to deny her nourishment until death. Miserable fucking death but since she has the IQ of a golf ball maybe we will not notice her suffering.
Strange case. Falls inbetween so many tracks and exceptions that I wish a homicide bomber would hit that hospice. Or maybe her husband or family would have the balls to put a pillow over her head and end her suffering.
Maybe its the IceHouse talking. I just buried my Aunt's 93 year old mother who FINALLY passed away from Altzheimers. She was in the hospice for over a year. I never knew her before the disease set in, rather as the woman who sat there reading the same damn book over and over again. Basically the same death--brain dies, eating ends and death sets in slowly.
I'm with Blue and Mike on this one. It's obvious that the poor woman never had any chance of recovery, so with that being the case, what's the point in prolonging her suffering? If the so-called "Christians" who want her kept alive were really any sort of Christians at all, they'd keep their Stone Age views to themselves and let the medical teams do what is, in this case, the right thing. BTW, call me old-fashioned but I don't really think this is an appropriate time or place to make jokes like this:

Terry was never in a coma. She was essential totally retarded. Had she been able to feed herself she would be alive. true, Christians abused this issuee as the GOP did for political gain. But what the people wanting to keep her alive wanted to do was to prevent a new standard of determining who should live and who should be put to death. Murders and terrorists death. Handicapped and retarded life.
Personally I was hoping that her husband would have had the balls to put a pillow over her face...
This has been a tough one. I hated seeing food and water withheld from her like that.
If she said previously that she would rather die than be kept alive under such circumstances, then her wishes should have been respected-- but not the way they did it, by starving/dehydrating her to death. I'm appalled.
But there was also conflicting testimony as to whether she actually said that to her husband-- one nurse testified that he had said that he didn't know what to do with Terri, because they never discussed it. Even if she did express that wish, I don't see why he had to be such a cunt in the end-- not giving permission for her to receive communion, not letting her parents in when she was dying, having her buried at his family's plot instead of with her parents....
The whole affair has been very troubling.

That was a fictional MOVIE! I mean, who ever heard of a lady boxer? ![]()
That said, Norman Mailer was here and had some very harsh and interesting words about the whole Schaivo case.
Actually it raises several issues...
- Did she actually wrote somewhere she wanted to be unplugged if she were that way?
- What if...
What if they find a cure for that in 2 years?
Well, it ain't much, but it's always a problem. What I simply didn't get here is, how come her parents were unable to feed her themselves? I mean, some people have the equipment at home to do this, so why not them?
Not that I'm not against what happened, but I just don't get that part.. probably because I didn't pay too much attention, but what stopped her parents from taking her with them and take care of her by themselves?
I mean, what's the quality of life when you are in that state anyways... people in prison have more fun than this.
Anyways... I wouldn't want to have to do that choice... but somehow, you have to let go at some point.
