Same experience I had in my Alfa. Sitting in traffic, looking over at the ridiculous jacked up truck next to me, and realizing that in an accident, my head was at bumper height. 
Rear-ended and destroyed by a sport ute.
Now I use these-- they're much better for the environment, although still dangerous in any collision with a sport ute; you should give them a try:
I once backed my Jag into a Mazda. $1200 damage to their car, none to mine. Had I backed into a SUV I would have lost my head.

I have a nice 3.5 mile communte to work via bicycle. My choice of bikes--Trek 520 (touring mule), Trek 7000 (acid bike) Cannondale R 400 (fast) or a Campy equipted Trek 2200 (magnificent carbon rod). The 520 has the panniers, the 700 is indestrucable and the 2200 and R 400 are fast.
1991 Toyota MR2. 5 speed manual transmission (I've owned 1 truck and 5 cars, all were manual).
This is kind of a crappy picture (it was getting dark so I shut off the flash) but I had to use it here as it was taken at John Denver Beach near my home in Pacific Grove. Don't ask me why we have a beach named after him!

I wish I knew mate. I've only failed one test (although I did that in spectacular style!!!) but i've been learning for about 3 1/2 years in total. Considering I have at least one lesson (sometimes two) a week I really have spent a fortune.
My first instructor didn't turn up after a while so I had to find another. I think I may have put him off the job for life , but I've improved since then. Having said that, my latest instructor certainly earns his money. There's just so much to concentrate on and everything happens so fast
Maybe i'm just not cut out to drive. I think I may be a bit too 'dizzy' for the roads

2004 Hyundai Sonata. My wife and I finally broke down and bought a second car (used). We have been using one for several years. But with two fast-growing boys, and two working parents, it became very difficult to get by with one car.

Well, it depends :)
Apparently, the only thing that was actually taken from 'aeronautic industry' is something called 'night driving' button that turns off instrument board. And then he talked about 'curious' smiles that SAAB owners have when somebody asks them about their car...
But Stig really drove it like crazy, tho I don't remember where it came on the result board. Oh yes, he was competing against fighter jet (yes, they asked Royal Air Force for a spin drive). :D
I agree with one thing however - 250 bhp, but front wheel drive? Apart from that - top!

It's a very nice car to drive. But it eats tires if you gas to much.
