Spring is back, in the northern hemisphere anyway, and with it comes a new Major League baseball season. Will this be the year that the Cubs break through as the Red Sox did last year? Will the Bosox let the success as acting as the Evil Empire, Jr. go to their heads, or will the acquisition of Randy Johnson by the Yankees and the departure of Pedro from Boston steer the pinstripes back to the top of the American League. Maybe the Twins will surprise people this year. Can Ichiro top last years hit record (he got two today, on pace for 324)?

Now that the Expos have left Montreal to Washington D. C., will the webmasters here follow the fortunes of the Nationals, or will they choose another? Do the Braves have what it takes to win yet another division crown, yet fade in the playoffs? Will Albert Pujols slug the Cardinals back to the NL pennant, and can the Dodgers survive without Gagne for awhile?

Rocky start for my Mets today, Pedro Martinez made one mistake in a strong start, giving up a three run homer, but got the no-decision as a leaky bullpen in the late innings once again led to a disastrous loss. Better luck for the Mariners, Richie Sexson is a much better first baseman than Ed Spiezo, and his two homers in the victory over Minnesota is hopefully a good sign that last season’s debacle was merely an aberration.

The webmaster will simply stop following baseball.

As a matter of fact, I did stop following baseball 2 years ago after the, what, 3rd year in a row where it was supposed to be their last year in Montreal?

Stupid move by the MLB, eventually this sport will need a major crisis to get back to earth... like Hockey is currently doing.

So no Hockey, no Baseball... it's very quiet sportwise in Montreal these days :\ohwell:

cubbies got off to a nice start. 16-6 final score i think it was. lots of questions remain with bullpen and starting rotation. does maddux have one more good year? wood and prior, wtf? zambrano, can he step up again, etc...

cubbies finish 2nd with a chance at wild card.

Being from Milwaukee, I have no hope for baseball. Well, it's no longer the Selig's Brewers so I guess anything is possible. If the Red Sox can win a world series, can the Brewers get to the post-season?

I leave that to the whims of the baseball gods.

Good question, Mr. Green. I still like baseball as a game very much so and I already miss its sweet perfume. Unfortunately, I'm still heartbroken when it comes to the way we were treated here, so for now I'll be following the action from a distance.

I will, of course, be curious about how the Nationals will do, but the connection will quickly fade I believe. For now, the other teams I'll be following are the Red Sox, the Mets (because of Pedro and Beltran) and the Angels, because of all the ex-Expos playing for them.

And even if I'm Canadian, right now, I couldn't care less for the Blue Jays.

Oh and about the Cubs, I like their lineup a lot, but somehow I am under the impression that Wood's and Prior's arms are about to fall off ?????? :eek:

Sounds good Seb, that's the attitude I've taken when it comes to ex-Jail, errr, Trail Blazers in the NBA, except for Rasheed Wallace :smoking: of course.

Think I'd better change my avatar to something else: the Mets started miserably by losing all three games against the Reds, and now they're already down 2-0 in the first against the Braves. They let the Reds score at least two runs in the first inning in every game in that series as well..... :rolleyes:
