Hi there! Just thought I'd start a thread for people from New Jersey who like Ozzy. I mean, all of us like other bands as well as New Order, don't we?

Just to make it perfectly clear, in case there might have been any doubt, I'm not from New Jersey and I don't like Ozzy. But you already knew that didn't you?
I don't mean to suggest that there's anything wrong with either being from New Jersey or liking Ozzy.
In fact I've been IN New Jersey, but never FROM there, but that probably doesn't count.
Hope this wasn't too off-topic?
That's fine, Patrick. I don't mind you posting here, but the thread is really intended for people actually LIVE in NJ, and who like Ozzy.
A working knowledge of the French language would be an advantage, too.

It's somewhat hard to imagine all those characteristics actually being combined in the same person, Big.

Au contraire, Patrique!
While I consider affection for Ozzy and appreciation for New Order as being mutually exclusive qualities, I can quite easily imagine someone, particularly someone from New Jersey, liking both and would be happy to welcome them onto the forum personally.
My mum once bought me a new jersey made in france and liked BLACK SABBATH!So can i post here?
Hello Rocket Mick, welcome to the thread.
Do you like Ozzy AND New Order? Are you currently living in New Jersey?

You are most welcome! This thread is for YOU and people LIKE YOU!

I can't say that you were exactly what I had in mind, but please stay and make yourself comfy and talk about NEW ORDER and OZZY. In French, if possible. Would you like a baguette? Un cafe au lait? Erm... L'hotel du Ville?
Which preference would logically come first, I wonder? Would it be the liking of Ozzy that would lead one to study French, or would it be the other way around? And would it be the liking of Ozzy that would cause one to move to New Jersey, or is there something about the nature of life in New Jersey that would result in a higher proportion of Ozzy liking than may exist in other locations?

Any response would be speculation. Hopefully we will have an authoritative response soon.

Yes, indeed, that would certainly be the best outcome.

Although you do raise an interesting point (as is your want, I have noticed). Living in New Jersey would not necessarily mean that one was actually BORN there. The combined forces experienced by listening to New Order AND Ozzy would tend to induce NORTHWARD migratory forces, wouldn't you say? New Order alone made me move 360 miles North. If I liked Ozzy too, I'd be in Shetland by now! If we could find the magnitude of the force one would experience as an OZZY fan, we may be able to triangulate and pinpoint exactly where such a person would have been born, and therefore derive an approximate age.

I hesitate to raise such a meaty issue when I'm about to sign off for the day, but it is not immediately obvious (to an American, at least) what it might have been about New Order that would have caused you to move North.
Is it the dark, cold, chilly aspects of their work?
Since I am, I confess, not perhaps as familiar with Ozzy's work as every educated person certainly should be, I have even greater difficulty evaluating the likely geographical direction in which a liking for Ozzy might propel one. Assuming we are in fact talking about the same Ozzy, it is not unimaginable that such a taste might push one toward California.
Patrick, while I am very happy about your willingness to take a stab at this without actually knowing anything about it, I must interrupt.
Something is happening over on the Who's Joe thread.
It might be a long night of campaigning!

Yes, I've seen and responded.
I understand that people who live in New Jersey like to vote.
Good luck with the get-out-the-vote effort!
I'm from New Jersey-born and raised- While, I am not a particular fan of Ozzy's solo work, I do enjoy some early Black Sabbath-
And, actually New Jersey is famous for tomatoes, not potatoes, though I am sure we do grow them in South Jersey! Farm Fresh-as we say here!
And you ask -what would drive a person from Jersey to like Ozzy- it might be good music to listen to while stuck in traffic- Up in North Jersey-where I live it can take up to 45 minutes to go 10 miles during rush hour!
It is interesting that you associate Ozzy with New Jersey- I've always associated certain towns of Jersey with Ozzy-such as Sayreville in particular and points south , especially towards "the shore"
Though I do know some Northern New Jerseyans that are into Sabbath and Ozzy-
How about this- I attended Ozzyfest four years ago-down in Holmdel New Jersey- and yes, it was very crowded,- I don't remember much of that show, which is a good thing in retrospect. Holmdel is south of Sayreville, by the way
So there you have it, more information than you probably asked for or cared about
Any other questions about Jersey feel free-it's a weird place with weird odors, and other oddities

Who hell he?
Welcome to the (wo)man with no name!
This thread was my friend Pat's idea, really. More evidence for his special service medal citation, given the results SO FAR.

***Rocket Mick's comments were based on the fact that here in the UK (and elsewhere no doubt) we have a type of potato called Jersey Royal. They're nothing special, just spuds***

***Don't ever go to Oxford, England. The traffic would depress even you!***

***Why is that, Manwithnoname? Are there a lot of Ozzy fans there?***

***We're interested in anything you've got***
Noname, why are you on a New Order site? Assume you have an interest in them too?
WHY DO YOU HAVE NO NAME?
I live fairly close to Jersey but I'm no Ozzy fan. I like old Metallica and Smashing Pumpkins but that's about as heavy metal as I get.

Yes, but I have a feeling that they will have beautiful feathers.
When the Calgary Flames went to the finals I bought a NEW "Flames" JERSEY.
Cant help you on the Ozzy thing.
...'Cuz I'm curious about differences between Brummies and Mancs-- you know, things like music, accents, culture, etc.
...'cuz it seems like Birmingham produced quite a different music scene (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest) than Manchester.
