MIKE ....you may know that WELLARD is now 7 years old and still going strong.My goldfish that is from a fair ground has really outgrown his tank.He did have a problem due to the acidity in the water and his scales turned BLACK in places.I panicked and CHANGED the water which was suffice.Turned out that some plants i had in the tank had produced too much acid when dying and rotting in the pebbles at bottom of tank.I found out what to do by visiting several sites on the internet.But there are MANY and really useful.Make sure you have plenty of filters and change the water frequently.Don't over feed cos the extra food will cause the water to react badly affecting the fish. But to answer your question,yes for up to about 8 hours or longer.Their eyes are ALWAYS visible but the fish remain very STILL.If you are about though this disturbs them and they will WAKE for food.I am sure that you have heard that they have a memory span of ONLY five secs.I don't believe this for a moment.Mine watched the full film with me the other night and loved it.JAWS-classic film.:D Now why don't you get yourself a HAMSTER and do a BARNEY IN THE WHEEL with it. WHO'S JOEY?
