I bought OK Computer and Amnesiac and tried listening to them with an open mind but was dumbfounded. This was at the height of the music press having their tongue up their ass and the masses seemed to be duped into thinking OK Computer was one of the top 3 albums ever made.
Does anyone even still listen to that album? Was it all just some kind of mass delusion?
I never understood the Radioheas hype, either. Whenever I've had to listen to them, I always think of a guy standing behind a synth, just holding his hands there, and mumbling something.
I forgot them as well! *slaps head* Jeez, I must be slipping! I thought I was the only one who didn't get their appeal. Nice to see it's not just me! :)

God, I can't believe I forgot them! They're so overrated it's not funny.
Yeah, The White Stripes are absolutely awful.

I'm glad so many people agree with me! I just find their music boring and unimaginative. People seem to think that their use of electronics is somehow completely new and as innovative as Kraftwerk or something. It's BORING. And I hate Thom Yorke's voice, too. I suppose I also just loathe a lot of the American fan base - 18 year old college freshmen who think they're somehow incredible sophisticated and intellectual or something just because they profess their undying love for OK COMPUTER. It doesn't make any sense! Ugh!

Well, I can't stand them since 'Creep'... I guess I'm an 'old school' Radiohead hater... :D

i've loved them since 'creep'. OK computer is a fantastic album, but the bends is better...![]()
so there.![]()
this is all pretty subjective, plus depending on "who" is overrating...
Dave Matthews Band... nice boring music for bland generic boring unadventurous people... Dave is a nice guy i guess but why did this band become superstars? a perfect example of a boring white guy stealing "ethnic" music and making it bland for consumption for boring white people
Pearl Jam ... hardly deserving of all the respect they have gotten over the last 15 years, hardly alternative or punk, very competent and very good at being mediocre and challengingly unchallenging... inspired dozens of bad, boring, unoriginal bands, sort of a alternative band for people who dislike alternative bands
U2... this band has practically been deified in some ways, i guess because of an absence of 70s style "BIG" rock bands anymore. Bono is a twat. Joy Division made more essential and influential music in their short time.
... agree with the comment about Eric Clapton... what the hell has this guy done, especially as a solo artist except blandly and without guilt rip others off and paste his white mug and name on label, a total parasite

Dave Matthews Not That Into Himself Anymore
And then there's Matchbox Twenty

EC with bands like the Yardbirds and Cream: excellent. ![]()
EC solo (with a few exceptions): crap. ![]()
Don't know that he's "over-rated", though...![]()
Agree about Pearl Jam, I've tried (really tried) to listen to their stuff, but very rarely do I find myself enjoying it. Eddie Vedder sounds like anyone's grandfather singing in the shower after a lifetime of smoking. There, I said it ![]()

Gotta admire Eddie's stance on things like Ticketbastard, and being able to get Epic to release a ton of live albums, but the music is so bloody pedestrian it's a shame. I like a few songs here and there, but after a show of theirs in 98 I think (Frank Black opened), all I got was a dull headache.
where can we begin!
Kaiser chiefs to me are vastly over-rated, run out of stuff to sing so they put a few woooos and ways in there to fill up 3 mins.
God i hate this band so much!
Oasis, darn. what a brotherhood of imbeciles. Pretentious beyond measure and not that impressive at all. The first time i've been irritated by something from Manchester (one of my beloved Cities).
this is dead easy.
its either U2 (god i hate them)
and
Green Day. (just bad Yank Pseudo punk)
...but great to see Killing Joke gettin a mention in the Kerrangs.
there's only two great bands from England, the Joke and New Order.
forget the rest!!! (apart from maybe Bunnymen & Smiths)
anyone gonna see the Joke in Liverpool in October??? (if they turn up??)

i'm considering getting tickets for killing joke, do you reckon they'll be worth it?
Oasis Coldplay (the new one sounds like the Eagles) Green Day White Stripes Radiohead The Darkness Richard Ashcroft
Ay!!!!
stop knockin the beatles.
i don't like them much either, but there'd be no decent music today if it wasn't for them.
P>S. Killing Joke are awesome live. probably the best live band England's ever had.
Not that some of these aren't ok - just terribly overrated
Coldplay Franz Ferdinand Oasis Manics Radiohead
But absolutely crap and definitely overrated
Queen
Guess it's a matter of taste........again. ![]()
But, still, there are a few people out there I dislike for what they do (did) and 'commit(ed) to tape', such as the evil likes of:
The Eagles Bon Jovi Blink 182 Sum 41 Mike Love Nickelback Maroon 5 3 Doors Down Usher Eminem/D12 Korn Limp Bizkit Hoobastank Jamie Cullum Michael Buble The Sex Pistols Gwen Stefani INXS Good Charlotte Chicago Toto Lenny Kravitz Black Eyed Peas Jennifer Lopez Beyonce Knowles Motley Crue Puddle Of Mudd 50 Cent Slipknot Mariah Carey Avril Lavigne P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/Diddy or whatever the wanker calls himself now ......and many others.
I just can’t take this lot serious, they make me laugh. And turn off the radio or TV at once. Pathetic clowns.

They suck!
but were they ever really meant to be good?
I gotta say I HATE Kaiser Chiefs as well.Theyve turned out to be one of those bands that every Tom ,Dick and Harry and all their friends and relatives go on about "oh i dont like much music these days. Except the Kaiser Chiefs.they`re quite good".Absolutely everyone i meet these days says that same line!.AAaaaarghhhhhhh!!![]()

i don't think Nirvana are that over rated are they? Sure Nevermind and Smells like teen spirit are but In utero and unplugged in new york are largly forgotten about for some reason.
