Just got done watching Apocalpse Now Redux. I saw the original in the theater, thanx Mom. weird seeing the extra scenes. Anywho, how many songs have sampled or lifted from this flick.
Front 242 used the napalm call. Adam and the Ants used the line "cut you in half with a machine gun and give you a band ais. Any others.
I always thought that the soundtrack sounded as if it were scored by Suicide after receiving advance payment in Valium.

I've seen both too. Great film! One of my favs. The redux was a bit long though.
The soundtrack is too dated. I do not mind the Doors tune or other rock&roll tracks but the synth and specially created music sounds so freakin' dated it almost ruined the movie for me. watch the original Terminator and pay attentiona to the cheesey music and you will understand. On the contrary, watch The Beast for an excellent score on background music for a disturbing film.

I had the same feeling watching "The Untouchables" a few months back. There seemed to be an awful lot of synth going on for a movie set in the Thirties (or maybe it's a different movie I'm thanking of that had way too much synth going on).
I like the approach Wes Anderson takes: ransack your record collection, then have Mark Mothersbaugh do instrumental "incidential" music. A good approach and a way to avoid said "dating" problem 
Ministry sampled "Apocalypse Now" in "N.W.O." ("It's alright... It's alright...").
One of my favorites movies ever. I've bought the Redux version the other day and it's still sealed. I'm going to watch it today.

Apocalipse Now and The Thin Red Line are the best war movies made, IMO.
DEas Boot and The Victors (Eli Walach, George Hamilton, George Peppard, Al Finney) are my fave war flicks.

the redux had a lot of funnier bits in it, but not much else besides the boring (though significant) french plantation scene. oh, and the bunnies show their tits!
