The Sundays

Any of you UKers know if they'll ever produce another album? I searched the Web for info. on them and couldn't come up with much. Thanks in advance.

Awesome band. They've always kept really quiet and to themselves between albums, so it's never been easy to get news about new albums. I think they pretty much disappear back into their family lives and only record when the mood takes them. I doubt whether they would come out with anything groundbreakingly new though, their sound has pretty much been the same since the start (even though it's a very good sound).

Listened to "Static and Silence" yesterday and it reminded me how much I liked them. Coming up on 8 years since that release, so I'm not holding my breath for a new one.

Can't see it happening now, sad to say. I was a huge fan and caught them live four times. I recall reading that they were huge in the States, but they never really got any bigger over here: they played the same University venues in 1992 as they did in 1990, and when "Static and Silence" came out they only played two UK dates (both at venues they'd played before!). There were rumours of a Parlophone "Best of..." for a while, but you wonder who'd actually buy it this late in the day. Drunkenly clambered on stage at their Leicester Uni. 1992 show and gave Dave Gavurin a big bear-hug. I wanted to tell him how much I loved their music and how much it meant to me, but all I could come up with was "you're fucking great, you are!!!"

They did a run of about 12 shows for Static and Silence and I should have gone to Seattle for the one there. A best of really wouldn't do it now at all. Maybe they wanted to have five years between No. 2 and No. 3, and then 10 years between No. 3 and No. 4. May the year 2007 bring us more Sundays...

I was going to name my daughter Harriet!
