Well he developed and perfected some ideas and he was rather obcessed with those ideas and the point is that the ideas were wrong. That's why practical philosophy is never a good thing. Better to read Nietzsche - there's really nothing but style.

Wolfgang Borchert is my fav writer and Georg Heim is my favourite poet from Germany and Willy Brandt is my fave German politician.

With all due respect, the guy was a figurehead for the crippling Weimar Republic whose inability to maintain a nominal democracy in the wake of financial instability led to the rise of Adolph Hitler, the worst muthafucka who ever lived. For that, Hindenburg deserves a place in history as a pawn of the evil that visited Europe during 1933-1945.

Like I said, a figurehead during that time. His aides and advisors should have known better. But I'll grant you he was a successful general (mostly because Ludendorff was at his side during the 1917-1918 campaigns, though)

Also in Austria there's a region called Schwabien and they don't even call themselves Austrians. A lot of people don't like Schwabs for that.

I've been there they don't speak much German there anymore. The architecture looks similar to Austria though.

I know what you mean. That South German (Bavarian) and Austrian culture is quite different from the sober Protestant North Germany where I am from (Bremen). All that Umpa Umpa music and Lederhosen slapdancing etc is very foreign to me. I do however acknolege that it is part of German culture.

German culture emcompasses a large range of regional variations.

I do rememer a story though of German armies, yes in those days the German states sold their armies, fighting for Britain during the war of independance switching their allegiance.

...'Schwabien (?)' (you mean the 'Schwabenland') is a region in Germany, where the centre of it is Stuttgart, so, Bavaria (another big region in Germany) is the southly neighbour of it and Austria is the southly neighbour of Bavaria...

Udo Lindenberg has status of cult (mainly in Berlin). He is kind of grandfather of german (Fun-)Punk. It is not my thing really... If you look at his alcohol (and drug?) use in early days you can entitle him as the german Ozzy Osbourne.

That's the trouble with Germany and europe as a whole, there's just too much to see. Myself when there only made it to Hamburg twice, Amsterdam once. Never made it to Munich even though we once had a big Bavarian South German driving holiday.

I've been there they don't speak much German there anymore. The architecture looks similar to Austria though.

The logo is very typical for German mindset. If you'd look at German ads that use cartoon themes - they're all like that. And that always struck me, their "silliness"
