Only been to Germany ones, but it was ace.

Lived with a german I met on The Chameleons forum. Stayed there for 4 days. 2 gigs by the Chameleons.

Everyone I met there were very nice indeed. Bought me drinks etc.

Well he developed and perfected some ideas and he was rather obcessed with those ideas and the point is that the ideas were wrong. That's why practical philosophy is never a good thing. Better to read Nietzsche - there's really nothing but style.

Wolfgang Borchert is my fav writer and Georg Heim is my favourite poet from Germany and Willy Brandt is my fave German politician.

I always thought Marx offered a good way of viewing industrial society but failed to offer a solution.

Going back to the first list, what the hell does Hindenburg have to do with German culture?

With all due respect, the guy was a figurehead for the crippling Weimar Republic whose inability to maintain a nominal democracy in the wake of financial instability led to the rise of Adolph Hitler, the worst muthafucka who ever lived. For that, Hindenburg deserves a place in history as a pawn of the evil that visited Europe during 1933-1945.
