Two questions:
Temporary or permanent?
Exactly how much space is in your luggage, AgentWood? :D
permanent :D
no space in my luggage--i'm shipping my car over (school's paying for it) and there can't be anything in the car that's not attached to it, not so much as a CD. so i'm driving to LA to get the car to the port, then catching a flight with minimum luggage. i'll ship a few boxes (CDs and DVDs, mostly), and send for things gradually. no furniture or big things, that's for sure!

Not so much as a driver? ;)

That rules Nicos out, then. :D
strange place for me, as i don't care for the ocean! but kauai has beautiful mountains, rivers, and canyons. as a colorado girl, i love to hike (something i really miss doing, living here in florida), so there are plenty of opportunities for that. last time i was in kauai i was ten, and the thing i remember the most was the wonderful smell of the tropical flowers and the varied topography. mmmm.
congratulations, what a great thing to happen - get to live in paradise and earn a living. A hui hou, aikâne!
congratulations my arse,i was looking forward to looking up a few noolers in florida on my next trip and one jiggers off to gi blues island, mind u what are the chances of new order playing hawaii hehehe.
mind u if they do im stopping at your place m8,good luck ect

Hawaii? What's that? Isn't that place all frozen over? Or is that India? ![]()
(Trevor displays his appalling lack of knowledge concerning basic geography) ![]()
Nah, only fooling. Congrats on the move ![]()
Congrats on the move, Ms. Wood, hope things work out well for you. It's possible I could be in Hawaii in December, if there are still crappy bowl games to go to then. (I know, I know, just go for the "scenery" instead....:) )

Would be even better than just a holiday, well, at least in my case! :D
Anyways, hope you'll enjoy it out there, Agent Wood! :)
Woohoo! How exciting! I hope the move goes well and you are very happy in your new home. Congratulations, what a big thing!

I really envy you. Have a great time, and a safe move.
thanks. although mt. wai'ale'ale, the highest point on kaua'i, is the rainiest place on earth so i'm not too sure about the sunshine part! that's good for me though, considering that i'm practically an albino.
lucky lucky b******.
but everything's really expensive there right? Please tell me everythings really expensive. You're gonna be really suffering, right?
(I once applied to the uni there, but ended up somewhere much grimmer and more urban)
(hope ya have a good time, in case the above sounds too churlish)
Must like long flights to get to the main land though... New Order concerts will be cheaper in Japan!!
;)
yup, the cost of living is higher than on the mainland, but fortunately i'll be making enough to be OK. sorry. :D
Spotnick wrote: Must like long flights to get to the main land though... New Order concerts will be cheaper in Japan!!

it's about 5 hours from LA to honolulu, and another 30 minute flight to kaua'i. to tokyo it's about 8 hours from honolulu.
but nothing is cheaper in japan compared to the US! that place is ridiculously expensive--i don't know how the japanese do it. still, a NO concert in tokyo would be much more interesting!

The Fuji Rock Festival is near the time you're moving... ![]()

Tired of the UK? :D
Agent,
Could you email me some of the details about how you acquired your teaching position? I am a teacher on the mainland and have been researching a way to move to Hawaii, but live comfortably. I have been to Hawaii a few times and have been looking for ways to secure a living there using my teaching creditials.
Is a private school job in Hawaii pretty lucrative, in teacher standards?
Either way, kudos and congrats on the new life change!!!!
scratch that. they offered me a good salary then backed out because they didn't OK it with the board of trustees.
so i'm staying put here in orlando. ![]()

and i may have taken you up on it on my drive out to put my car on the boat! :D
oh, well. i'll get out there sometime in the near future. i have a number of friends in the area to visit and the only place i've ever been in the LA area is...carson. :dead: not the best impression, mind you!
