i went to see these guys live in glasgow a few months ago, they are total joy division wannabes!
they are good don't get me wrong, but the lead singer has ian Curtis written all over him (or should that be 'i want to be ian Curtis'), his dancing/movement style on stage is an almost exact replica, the tone of his voice is almost the same.
and then they have the nerve to get upset when they get joy Division comparisons.....they should take that as a complimant of being likend to such a great band.
i was stood next to the lead singer in the crowd watching the support act and he was shitting himself about going on stage it was quiet amusing.
The obvious comparisons are there. I orderd the CD, being a die-hard jd fan I am looking forward to it. I saw the video for bullits and it sold me on them. I do hear a little early echo and a smattering of bauhaus in them to.
I like them too,i'm going to see them on weds in leeds should be fun, plus its my birthday too so bonus!
I have a copy of their album, a blag copy off the net. I listened to it and thought of JD / Interpol/ the Bunnymen and for some strange reason I can hear Blue Nile in their song structure in places. Early days at the moment but I'm not too impressed.
the question is: do we like a band that sounds like the groups we have liked in the past or not.if i am told a band sounds like my kind of stuff i'd check it out.??

Just found their album on Soulseek. Nothing like JD in my ears (so far, after 2 songs).
His voice reminds me of Interpol. At least in "Distance".

if they sound like the groups we like and they refuse to accept it ....???? and above all they've got and some radio stations that are trying to pass to us that they are so different than the group that we think that they sound like....????
