Stupidly valuable CD/vinyl/tape/music item of any kind that you own

Last night while digging through my CD collection to make sure I hadn't already got some of the discs I was intending to buy today, I found my copy of the Hybrid Theory EP. This was a 1000 pressing, later repressed with another 2K or so, CD only EP by the band that later went on to become Linkin Park; and I got it for £4.50 on ebid (failed Irish auction site).

Now, I knew it was now worth a fair bit - it was already worth a lot more than £4.50 when I bought it, but...

$115 with nearly 3 days left.

Whats even better is that the CD and box are in perfect condition on mine - I listened to the CD once, and ripped it to my HDD, so its been in a CD drive only twice beyond what the original owner did with it.

However, I think people like Digital Mike almost certainly have far more scarily expensive stuff in their collection?

I own a "bootleg" of sorts by Smashing Pumpkins called Pumpkin Seeds. It's not an actual concert but an 11 song disc containing rare songs and alternative Gish outtakes. I paid $10 for it about 6 years ago but some website estimated that it costs a lot more than that because it is not live quality and has pre-1991 tracks by the band. Also, I have a tape version of the Heavy Metal Machine promo (a song never released as a single of Machina) that was passed out for free at the 2000 Philadelphia concert by promoters. I don't know if these were passed out at every concert venue but you certainly couldn't buy them in any store, especially because the song wasn't even released as a single. I also have a copy of the Rolling Stone 1995 issue with SP on the cover that's been signed by all of the members of the band, but I'd never sell it.

i have a 7" promo by the band 311 that i got for free 15 years ago or so, and i can't remember why. it looks like the cover was photocopied and the record is lime green.

when i put all of my vinyl in storage to move to the UK it was the only one that warped, so it's totally useless now. oh, well.

i do have some pricey blur CDs that were given out to record stations to promote the band when leisure came out, plus modrophenia and sawdust seizures which are worth a fair amount. i picked them up at a record store in london's soho in the mid-'90s and i'm not parting with them for the world.

hmmm this may be woth $$ someday. I work at a local Tower Records and got from the Warner Rep, her personal promo copy of WFTSC It has her name on the CD and is numbered!

Regular promo CD with handwritten name & number, or machine printed? A scan would be interesting.

A drumstick from Digital A pair of drumsticks and a towel from a Belgian band called Millionaire A signed vinyl of Reuben's "Racecar is Racecar Backwards" A limited edition 7" of The Icarus Line/Burning Brides split [only 1000 made] I also have a signed t-shirt when I went to Ozzfest in 2002 [my music taste has changed since then, read: improved], I have a bunch of crappy bands who signed it - Otep, drummer of SOAD, drummer of Flaw, a few of American Head Charge, a few of Mushroomhead and Jack Osbourne.

Don't think it's stupidly valuable, but I do have the white label US 7" promo for LWTUA, very good condition, paid two dollars for it.

I have no idea what a lot of the indie/new wave/punk stuff I have is worth, all I know is that I just shake my head going into stores and seeing things like The Cost Of Living EP by The Clash going for 20 dollars...

I've got a copy of the Japanese 7" Blue Monday/Confusion. There are supposed to be only about 20 of them pressed. I have already been offered around US$750 for it, but I'm holding onto it for now.

Sadly I don't own anything particularly valuable (not just music items, anything at all). I did use to have the vinyl 'Short Circuit At The Electric Circus' that a friend bought when it was released, didn't like, and gave to me. I think thats _slightly_ rare, with an early Warsaw performance. But one of my younger siblings destroyed it.

Oh, and the same friend had the complete set of 2000AD comics from number 1 to, um, a couple of hundred? But his mum gave them away to a jumble sale without asking him ('cleared out all that old rubbish')

Sorry to bump the thread but I just got QOTSA - "The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died" 7" signed the current band. They were given out at the gig at Brixton today and I'm not sure how many people noticed because there were quite a few people not holding one after the gig. Well, don't know really, got all my Nuo/JOY on original Factory issues (both vinyls and CD's + the Palatine box) and a rare and strictly ltd French (very nice)CURE box from '91 + the David Sylvian 'Weatherbox' (MINT) + some rare Japanese and Oz. Nuo. vinyls, and as i'm very careful with my stuffs : all are MINT (i always take great care and store preciously all my collections), so, it's anyone's guess i suppose.

i believe my killing joke-reqium original 12" is worth a bit
