As I was saying over on the other forum, from Modern Life is Rubbish to the Anti War marches to Gorillaz latest album, everything Damon gets involved with is,in my opinion great.
Noel Gallagher seems like a funny bloke - but I dont think they have done anything worth much since Definitely Maybe? Their Record sleeves are also horrid.
I have to admit that Brit pop battle of 10 years ago sort of passed us by in Oz.
Only recently did I see that Live Forever doco on dvd (I still have to return it to its owner). Top doco btw. Live Forever covers that period quite well.
While I don't think the sun shines out of Liam and Noel's arses, they were better than Blur.
Haven't really liked anything they did since the Wonderwall album though.
this does take me back a few years...
i'm positive it is one of the main reasons for my break-up with my then boyfriend. i was REALLY into blur and he was all about oasis.
having said that, i like oasis (although i haven't purchased anything of theirs as of late) and the oasis show i went to in 1995 in NYC was one of the best i'd ever been to. but they'll never beat blur--leisure through their eponymous album, especially. those were the golden years. i was really passionate about blur during that time and was buying japanese imports, every single that came out, bootlegs, rare interview CDs (see the thread on expensive music you own), and so on.
i also had the worst crush on alex james imaginable. 
every time i saw them live i had to make sure i was positioned in the front, stage left, so could watch alex toss his floppy hair around. *sigh*
Oasis's 1st two albums were miles better than Blur's 1st two albums, but since then Blur have been miles ahead, so it's Blur for me...
Although I did get turned off Blur for a while when Damon said that he wished one of the Gallagher brothers would die of AIDS...
Oasis hands down, in spite of the Gallaghers. i´ve never could understand Blur´s music or what they tried to do. a couple of good songs and period. i don´t like the Gallaghers but i don´t like Albarn either and i´ve always found his voice annoying. IMO Oasis is a very powerful band, especially live. Blur always sounded "soft" to these ears. so i have no doubts about it, Oasis kicks Blur ass every time.
Damon Albarn is a talentless cunt. He has been involved in two good songs, which were theres no other way and universal. Gorillaz are so shit its untrue. And if you admire a 'musician' because he goes on a few anti war and poverty marches, then thats quite sad.
Oasis on the other hand, are fookin brilliant. Still kicking most bands arse live and creating good music. The last album, which is good, beats anything Blur ever did.
If I have to choose, it'll be Blur.
But, honestly, I don't listen to neither of them. Except for the songs I sometimes hear on my radio.
Great Oasis songs:
Live Forever, Masterplan, Little By Little, Stand By Me, Dont Look Back In Anger, Some Might Stay, Up In The Sky, SLide Away, Champagne Supernova, Cast No Shadow, Do You Know What I Mean, Sunday Morning Call, Where Did All Go Wrong?, Rock and Roll Star, Morning Glory, Acquiesce, Lyla!, Talk Tonight, Magic Pie etc etc.
Add up all the great live performances, two nights at knebworth, maine road, earls court, wembley, 3 nights at the city of manchester stadium.
When have Blur done a memorable live performance that will be remembered?
I saw Blur do their singles tour in 1999, fucking great show it was too.
Have been into that pub The Good Mixer in Camden Town a couple of times, never did see Damon Albarn or Brett Anderson about though.
There you go, the first two suede albums were better than anything Blur ever did. And even a few songs after Bernard Butler left were great as well.
When did Blur create anything as dynamic as Animal Nitrate?
Couldn't really give a fuck I like Blur, Oasis & Suede. Was too young to go and see Seude with Brett & Bernard but managed to see The Tears earlier on in the year, not the same thing but it was rather good none the less.
dont really like both. Blur has some good tunes, and oasis hasnt had good song since their debut. They have been shite for awhile now.
blur are shite,borderline boyband at one point (admit it fer fucks sake). oasis are just utter shite,the gorillaghers are a a pair of whining twats at best,and i for one look forward to tossing a pound coin into their hats when thay are busking at a bus station when the british public finally wake up and give them their marching orders.

ah, yes. knebworth.
good show, i admit. but there were more man city jerseys there than there are man city fans in the whole of england! and those hats liam used to wear--every guy had one on; and i think it was jo whiley who said on stage: 'look at al those liam hats. don't think he's actually worn one of those in about a year!'
not to mention the weirdest queues for the toilets ever. 100 people queuing for about 15 port-a-loos when no one was using the other 50--so we just waltzed right in. an american and a yorkshireman, so perhaps we knew better. ;)

you're right. it was one of the gallaghers who said he hoped damon would catch AIDS and die, not the other way around.

Hum, Wonderwall is probably in my personal top 20 of songs... I own 2 Oasis albums..
I only know 2 tracks from Blur... (Boys & Girls and Song 2)

let's see. they both had really cute lead singers, wore similar pastel skater wear and cyclist hats, and had catchy tunes. but i think jesus jones' album doubt was stronger--what with right here, right now (political statement, there), trust me, and international bright young thing leading the way.

oasis suck ( although will admit to liking wonderwall). blur ok. gorilaz great - do we all like shaun ryder's contribution to the new single?
Both are good, but I'm going with Oasis. Now with that said, I'm not too fond of their new stuff (Lyla) but their mid 90s choons were great.
Ah yes, I'm feeling supersonic. 
Blur, even though I really have strain to sit through any of the overly-polished stuff they did after Parklife. Blur at least had a tongue-in-cheek quality to them that hinted that they really knew how dorky and twee a lot of the britpop sound was.
Parklife is alright but Modern Life is Rubbish is the highwater mark in my opinion.
