After digging them up and listening to them now, I wonder if any Underworld-fans or sympathisers are around here. I'm proud to say that I was "fan" before "Trainspotting"...
What's the common NOOLers opinion and has anybody heard if they're still alive?

i love underworld. pearl's girl is a fantastic tune, as is king of snake. i have a few of their albums and i put them on every once in a while.
for me, the summer of 1996 was all about three lions and born slippy. :D
i recently invested in the best of/ singles collection from a music shop in Barnsley for £1.99. a bloody bargain!i have two of there albums and i haven't listened to them in ages so when i got the best of i was suprised byhow good they are/were still might be?

Have they got a new one due or out? Still haven't got 2nd toughest but I've got the rest.
"Cowgirl" was the track that caught me back then... "Second toughest in the Infants" is (in my opinion) their best album followed very close by "Dubnobass..."
Saw them live in 2000 at the Bizarre Festival. They were only two then. Darren Emerson had left during the tour (?). Can anyone verify rumors about upcoming new stuff? Or are they finished?

they're heavenly dance/techno music with dub influences and, erm, talking/singing (but not really rap). i'll send you an MP3 if i can figure out how to do it.

"Skyscraper I love you" was the one I first bought by them, it always went a storm when I was DJing as I remember. "Cowgirl" and "Rez" were also two of my other favourites.
I do like Underworld and probably got into them because of Trainspotting. I did actually make an effort with their stuff beyond simply downloading a Born Slippy MP3 :D and bought a couple of albums like Second Toughest In The Infants, Everything Everything, and recently A Hundred Days Off. Two Months Off is a great housey single however shit the lyrics are, and other stuff like Mo Move, Kiteless, Sola Sistim etc. still get a spin now and then.
Good band (or duo), they hit the big time with Born Slippy but probably hate it now a'la New Order & a certain 12" single from 1983!

I first saw Underworld live when they were Underworld Mk 1, a somewhat cringeful dance-pop outfit in the late 80s. They soon morphed into what was an exhilarating confluence of dance and guitars and I've been a fan ever since. Dubnobass.. remains one of my top 3 albums ever and I'm also a fan of their design work with Tomato. Seen them live here and in the UK several times.
Since Emerson left I fear their best days may be behind them. But you can expect new material late 05 / early 06.

Do you think so? I thought it was a little patchy, but they did set the bar so high with their previous albums.
I recommend picking up all their extended version EPs if you haven't already, Bere.
