I've just ordered the first series of "Grange Hill" (bootleg, obviously) off t'internet and am rather looking forward to it arriving on my door-mat. Can't remember which year it went out but it was before I even went to 'big school' myself so figure it would've been the late 70's at some point?!
Anyone have any other strange purchases in their collections they'd care to admit to?!
don't know if this could/is classed as sad....but i own Transformers the movie in 3 different versions, once on Video and twice on DVD.
I've got all the Dangermouse DVDs...
I wonder if Barney ran his hands across any of the original cells during his time at Cosgrove Hall...
A mate of mine (who's 23) buys alot of Disney shit on DVD and video. His excuse is his 4 year old Godson likes it but you can tell something's amiss when he seriously thinks Aladdin is one of the funniest films ever 
As for my own DVD collection I'm not sure I have anything that bad. A few sci-fi boxsets maybe :shy: but sci-fi is becoming more of a cool genre these days isn't it? Er, hopefully.
Latest purchase for me was the the Comic Strip 9 DVD boxset in Tesco. Fantastic stuff, lashings of ginger beer! 
Frequent appearances from Mr Keith Allen as well, anyone else here a fan? (Of Comic Strip that is) I buy loads of alternative comedy mainly, can't wait for the second Monkey Dust series to come out.

I bought this after the nod from Biginoil. Had forgotten just how Hit and Miss some of their stuff could be, and just how MUCH they actually put out. Only on disc 2 at present but on disc 1 you've got something as good as Bad News lining up alongside something appaling like War. A real mixed-bag. But what a cast, hey?
Don't know why, but I fcuking hate Daniel Peacock though. He's got a face you just want to smack.

When I opened it I went straight for disc 9 which has the "Four Men In A Car" episode from about 2001. That is an absolute classic and I've had it on VHS for a while. But you're right there's alot of shite, notably disc 9's "Demolina" and "Jealousy" which just weren't very funny. "Diary Of A Nutcase" was better though, still not quite as good as the "Four Men.." eps from that disc.
They did do a ton of stuff though, I didn't realise it was nine discs in all until I opened it! 
After I've done disc 9 I'm going to start right back at the beginning, any particular eps you recommend?
I own the 3 DVD-Box with 5 films of the Series "The man from U.N.C.L.E.". I totally got into this old series (not only because I fell in love with Mr. David McCallum 
).

Personal faves were always A Fistful Of Travellers Cheques, Bullshitters and Mr Jolly Lives Next Door.

DM - One Night in Paris Dario Argento's Inferno/Phenomena ...and a lot of divx movies that I'd be embarrassed to have bought had they not been free.
i didn't buy it, but my best friend gave my a bootleg copy of dreamcatcher that she didn't want. the quality is crap, but not as crap as the film itself.
Fed my habit this summer in buying about 12 football dvds.
Can't say they were sad - although the 100 greatest FA cup goals was not what it said on the tin, very poor selection and presentation. But then at 2 quid you could say I got my moneys worth.

Hope your account is still active; having such a breadth and depth of views is only healthy (even when we vehemently disagree), the trick is to avoid people getting personal (which can be easier said than done, is a matter of perception sometimes, but has to be strived for regardless)...
Anyway, another sad DVD (there are many!) I own has to be Space 1999 series 2 - what total crap! Series 1 is superb though, and as a kid I used to love Maya (not the NOOLER!, er... not that I dislike her either though!), but now series 2 is very embarassing...
I'm also dying to get the box set of The Persuaders (Roger Moore's very funny 007 predecessor), but it needs to drop in price a bit...

it is active, but after tonight's bout of insomnia i won't be around for a while except to check my slavic forum (we actually had a russian poster! seems like part of the problem was my poor russian translation, as vasili pointed out. i think i figured out my errors and hopefully the russian folks will now understand what i'm writing!). but for the rest of the forums: too personal, too vindictive, too much people aren't aware of that i didn't even put in the posts.

my sad purchase has to be Star Wars The Phantom Menace,what was i thinking of.. Has anyone seen any of the Naked Video series on Dvd, i'm on the look out to buy,never seen any down this neck of the woods..
Got the '83 FA Cup Final. Ordered it "unseen" and didn't realise that it was Man Utd propaganda rather than an unbiased account of the two games. The final proper is glossed over - we see the goals but not not Gordon Smith oh-so-nearly knicking it for Brighton with the last kick of the game. We then get the full 90 minutes of the replay where the mighty Man U bang in four, crush the opposition and bugger off with the cup. Again.
About the only dodgy thing I have in my collection is "Episode Two: Attack of the Clones", and I still think there is enough to warrent its inclusion. 
The "Crystal" DVD from '01 was about the only thing I ever bought on DVD that I got rid of (when I realized all it had was "Crystal", plus another video of the same song!)

Transformers dvd kicks ass at least during the first half. The scene when the Decpticons bust into the Autobots space shuttle and kill everyone is perhaps the finest ambush scene ever.
Just purchased Downfall, the movie about Hitler's last days in the Bunker. Very graphic. The scene where Frau Goebells sedates then poisens her children always brings tears to my eyes. How fucked up do you have to be to kill your own children? The bitch and her pussy hubby are burning in hell.

i will say it is one of my favourite films of all time, its just endlessly watchable. i particuarlly like the power house 80's power punch soundtrack...when music was music and transformers was good not this new beastwars, transformers armada shit!
the most ridiculous dvd in our collection would either be robin of sherwood series 2 or saphire and steel. damn silly.

I don't think this is a sad purchase at all. I loved the early Grange Hill's and some of the later ones through the eighties. I can't remember series one first time around as I was too young, but they were repeated on one of the channels a few years ago. Great viewing 
I, on the other hand, have loads of truly sad DVD's not least:
Pretty In Pink- I actually like this, even though it's cheesy, plus I used to think Andrew McCarthy was a babe. At least I can pretend I bought it because of the New Order tracks 
The Breakfast Club- I may as well admit to this one too, whilst i'm on.
Magnum PI-Series 1- I did have this, although i'm not sure where it is now. I don't think this one is quite as sad, but others may think it is. I was completely addicted to this programme as a young kid along with loads of others in the same vein.

I did buy the Powerpuff Girls DVD that had the Meet The Beat-alls episode on it, after viewing that one late night.
Since Tabsy like the Mr. Show series so much, I bought the third season set. Gotta add though that it hasn't become one of my favourites........sorry...
Im currently in the process of getting the so called Collectores Edition of Star Treck The Next Generation on DVD. You know the the one with the magazine. That's pretty sad isn't it. Sometimes because its from overseas there's a new issue every week, sometimes there's a 2 month wait. Plus it would be cheaper in the long run to just buy the box sets. I've been getting it for about a year, and we've only just started series 3. I think it may finish there, however, perhaps series 4 may be included as well.

SCUM - Ray Winston. Maybe not sad as in the said definition, but found it when home last christmas, what a dark, SAD, gruesome film. Cheer anyone's day up really! And yes, okay, a pretty sad purchase I admit it.
By the way whoever posted about an FA Cup Final earlier, think one of the best I've seen and would love to see unedited would be Man City and Tottenham, think it was 1981, but prepared to get lambasted on that, f*cking classic - and the replay! Stevie MacKenzie, old school football at it's best. Which begs for the question that I think still stands (prepared to be lambasted on this one too) who is the only man to score for both teams in an FA Cup Final. (or however you want to put it) one was an absolute cracker!

This is the earliest FA Cup Final I can remember.....I was 6 and an alf, and yer right it was definitely 81.

best bit was watching it all day from first thing in the morning, on the bus, leaving the hotel, not sure they do that anymore. (especially not no that i live here).
my saddest dvd purchases would have to be the four seasons worth of Red Dwarf.
for some reason i was convinced(for a long time)that this show was actually funny. definately not funny, but still good.

What magazine?
Its just a colour magazine of about 20 pages that covers the 3 yes only 3 episodes on each dvd. It has the same cover as the dvd.
