Sadly Mo Mowlam (ex-UK MP) passed away this a.m. (well before her time after a battle with brain cancer).
She was the key player in N.I.'s good friday agreement and if it wasn't for her (and a lot of other people) the IRA wouldn't have made the statement about disarming a few weeks ago...

i just read on the BBC website. i always liked her and her wonderful spirit. she was one of the good ones and she will be missed.
She was MP for my town of Redcar,she was very good for the town..nice genuine lady too..R.I.P Mo Mowlem.
Even Mr. Mandelson wrote a generally glowing editorial about her in The Guardian newspaper today; even though she called him a poor example of humanity, or something like that!
Very sad news indeed, a genuinely LOVED mp.....and you cannae say that about many! RIP indeed.
Yes, she will be missed. She showed the world that a woman in politics can be "gutsy" without turning into Maggie "Ironc***" Tatcher...
