Well put. I'm sure he probably didn't. But they do follow Paul's teachings, rather than Christ's teachings. When they quote scripture to prove a point, it's always paul's letters, or some OTHER part of the bible, but NEVER what Christ actually said. Because if they followed that, they couldn't come up with "Kill your enemies."

EDIT: THAT commandment is a result of following Paul's theology, and then going a good bit farther down that road, incorporating the old testament along the way.

well, actually... all the Ten Commandments, all ten, are all death penalties, if you break them the penalty is death if you translate honestly. modern Christians tend to edit that out most of the time, as well as edit or re-translate whatever they don't like... there are actually three versions of the ten commandments in the old testament, and Christian sects edit them down to a form they find presentable. Catholics completely and intentionally censor out one of the commandments cause they don't like it. modern Christians also ignore the concept of curses which are very large part of the ten commandments

"Thou shall not kill" means a Jew cannot kill another Jew for the hell of it, basically the same as the laws of every society in history in which murder for fun/ profit is banned otherwise chaos would rule. there is no great special moral meaning here.

plus "killing" and "people" need to be defined. foreigners and coloureds, especially coloured foreigners with a different religion like Iraqis , and generally anybody "bad"... if the are considered to be less than 100% "people", then "thou shall not kill" doesnt really imply... i mean its not like its killing real people, its more like killing animals

But Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment, and he said there are two: Love God, and love your neighbor. That's it for Christians.

I don't really wat to get into another religious discussion, we did those not that long ago.

According to most theology God is still wrathful, howerver he sent his son (Jesus) so that humankind could be redeemed, by his sacrifice (the cross), and that who ever believes in him will be saved.

Howerver the wrath will come in the end-days, and of course non-believers will go straight to hell and not have eternal life.

It's a lovely city...if you like driving through fields to get there. I remember a road trip through Alberta as a youngun and it was no fun. We almost made it to Edmonton but stopped short in Drumheller.

I'd like to say here that I'm not a Christian nutter. Its just something I've investigated in reecent years, to see if it makes sense. So far the results are inconclusive. I do know enough though to see where it is being perverted for polictical or other reasons.

i still don´t like Chavez 100% but i admit he made a couple of good decisions. still too "populist" for my liking but he´s closer to what i like than what i don´t like. the problem is that the people is REALLY divided in Venezuela. many ones have too much and many ones haven´t so Chavez is the perfect love/hate figure for venezuelans. notice how "his" half of the people went to the streets to take him back when USA tried to knock him down using the militars and oil impresarios. i respect that.

What do you mean by "populist" Alejo? If giving the majority of people what they want, and what they want is pretty basic (clean water, socialised healthcare, welfare, education) is populist - then I dont see the problem.

Also: His policies represent the interest of more than "half" the population - although that section of society doesnt pull the media strings or have access to the US state.

If the US take him out - and try another attempt at a Nicaraguian policy - there will most probably be civil war.

On the point of Religion - the United States is a christian country - like it or not - most US citizens have their own God hotline - and Robertson speaks for a lot of them. I think there is a lot of wool being pulled over a lot of eyes in the eruopean media and US "liberal" circles.
