aha. i know kurt cobain was pretty frank about who his 'influences' were, so i can't imagine there'd be too many hard feelings seeing as he was so open about it.

so what's your take on killing joke? you haven't said yet.

I think Killing Joke nearly sued Kurt over it, so I wonder if he remained a fan for long.

they should have, considering how many people thought the sun shone out of nirvana's collective asses at the time (i admit i was one). i still like them, but...times change.

They're a gateway to other bands.

Without them, I'd have never heard of Gang of Four.

I'd also never heard of The Melvins, but that's another story...

Alain Jourgenson (sp.) and Ministry totally emulated Killing joke loops, but to great effect... and I guess they helped revive at least a little Killing Joke interest

Killing Joke is a good band. Of course, I only know of Love Like Blood and In The Eighties. They sounded very Cure-ish, well the lead singer.

Post-Punk, mmmh... Actually, I always loved Killing Joke, they're an incredible act ! And, just like NEWorder, it's pretty irrelevant to try to classify them by any sort, they are a genre all of their own, which is why, i think, like Nuo., they're so influential and still kickin'asses big time these days.

Got right up the barrier, and Jaz freaked me out, but in a good way.

I was just away from the barrier at the start but once the mosh pit started I moved further back.

Didn't like the support band. Had more fun watching the skinhead and his chick 'dancing'.

Wanted to hear Empire song but never mind.

Do you think Jaz wanted us to believe in god then?

Which one? The first one weren't bad: experimental, but October Fire (or whatever they were called) were awful. The lead singer had been sucking Phil Anselmo's dick for stage and singing lessons.

Got murdered in the pit. Squashed to death by 40 year old punks. There was this dickhead beside me, who must have been on acid, becuase he kept heckling Jaz, and giving him the fingers during the set. He kept falling back on me, till I had to push him away.

Got one of Benny's drumsticks.

See the signed albums were going to Jester. A nice thought.

yeah it was a great gig in liverpool on Friday night. many more people than last time. great sound. and the new drummer was fuckin awesome. caught a bit of October File, but thought they were shite to be honest. KJ highlights for me were darkness before dawn, Frenzy and song & dance.

Love Like Blood i liked, back in the day.
