i just went through all of my 7" singles and the winner was 99 red balloons by nena--1983. english version on one side, german original on the other. amazingly it was the german one that charted in the US. that doesn't happen very often!

Prince Charming by Adam & The Ants. Still have it too, the sleeve's a bit tattered but the 7" is fine.

I'm not sure which one came first but I know I spent my pocket money on both. I had really sad taste in music without a doubt and it got worse before it got any better. Luckily it improved once I hit my teenage years.

Admitting to that was therapeutic :)

the one I remeber is buying the tape of "Reckless" by Bryan Adams at 13 in 1985

believe it or not I did not buy any singles before my first New Order one, which I believe was Subculture. I used to just buy albums.
