ok, i tried to keep it short but i was at 17 songs and gave up. no way i could narrow that down. however, i've been listening to Munki today and this is one of my favorite JAMC albums. for hope sandoval fans, she sings perfume on this album and it's soooo sexy sounding :) my 3 favorites from Munki are:

Freeheat is indeed awesome but don't expect anything similar from William's solo stuff (which he has recorded as "Lazycame"). Mostly acoustic stuff, some typical William songs on there which is brilliant, although a lot of it could only be called experimental at best, downright unlistenable at worst.

For a total Chainhead like me, i'd recommend it without question, but for a casual Mary Chain fan, you might be put off by some of it.

i'm sure i'll like it or at the very least appreciate it. as long as he does some weird shit with his quitar i'm sold :)

I like both Freeheat and Lazycame. I recommend them if you are a big JAMC fan.

Yes! I watched the JAMC late 1992 and they opened with Catchfire. When that bassline kicks in, you just know its gonna be better than special.

Yeah, I think it's probably their best off of HONEY'S DEAD. Definitely a keeper.

I dusted off my copies of Psychocandy and darklands recently, hadn't listened to them for yonks. Some candy talking and Darklands were always two of my favorites along with Kill surf city, but having listened to them again i've gotta say that right now Taste of cindy is my fave J&MC recording.

Taste of Cindy is brilliant. It is one of the tracks on PSYCHOCANDY that strikes me the most. I also like the acoustic version most widely available on BARBED WIRE KISSES.

Anyone here have recordings of their 'riot' shows at North London Poly or the Electric Ballroom? I'd be interested to hear what they really sounded like as opposed to how I remember them...my memory tells me that they were pretty awful and nowhere near as good as their studio recordings!

Automatic was a brilliant album - their most underrated too. Between Planets could've been a possible single but Head On (the second single) inexplicably bombed

automatic was the album that got me into JAMC and head on did quite well in the indie charts here in the US, if i remember correctly.

In a hole Just like honey Upside down/Vegetable man (still got the single, somewhere, wonder if it's worth anything)
