Camberwell's fuck all really. Both The House of Love and The Beloved hailed from there, even if Jon Marsh was really from Dulwich ;)

Do you know Halsmere Road?

I lived in Camberwell for eight fucking years and I can tell you that it is, without any shadow of a doubt, a complete and utter fucking shithole!!!

If you like people off their head on alcohol, crack and anti-psychotic medication you may enjoy it, otherwise steer well bloody clear!

What's the interest with the street you mention?

Oh yes, forgot to mention the twice annual stabbing event on Denmark Hill; it's totally random and indiscriminate, so don't bother planning for it...

he lives in the states. we're used to things like that here. ;)

i knew some people who lived in a squat in camberwell for a few years and i've never seen anything like it. the building was better maintained than most middle-class blocks of flats i've seen in london. they did a great job with it.

they relocated to crystal palace a few years back, though.

What's the importance of the street mentioned?

I happened to find myself there one memorable night 2 years ago. It was around midnight. I took a cab on Oxford Street and went to Camberwell. I was told there was a friend of mine waiting for me. :)

The fookin driver first thought I meant Camberwell street and drove me there. Then we finally got to Halsmere. I told the driver if he could wait for a minute - so I would find my friend first, just in case. But he said, - Hell no, I'm not going to stay here and wait for you. If I were you I would not even walk here at this time. Shit. :(

So he left and I was left to my own devices - I had to find the freaking house. And the street was actually dark and you couldn't see the numbers well. So I walked along the street a few times back and forth and the only representatives of the human race were black guys at the dead end, in their van. So I passed further to Flodden street and went all the way to Camberwell New Road which seemed a bit more civilized. :thumb:

Brave man! I once ventured out at 2a.m. with sticky flyers to advertise my website and I was shitting myself most of the way...

Had a few whiskys which helped- but if you ever go back make sure you walk like you've got a purpose. I learnt that adopting a 'fuck off' facial expression was also a good survival tactic!

Ok, the truth about Camberwell. There are some lovely houses in Camberwell like everywhere but it can be a dangerous place to live. I wouldn't live there. And I'm from Deptford!! :bag:

True, I was concerned because I had $ 2000 in cash in my pocket and I just was not up to have any adventure at that particular night.

when i'm carrying thousands of dollars in cash, i sew it into the lining of my jacket.

when i'm carrying millions, i tend to drive.
