I thought it was the best film i`ve seen in ages!.

I've had the DVD for quite some time but haven't watched it yet.

i personally think people don't like it because its very raw and actually doesn't lie or gloss over how couples are when they cheat. and the consequences of what happens when they cheat. it also deals with unhappy break ups and the fact that everything isn't rosy and there isn't a happy reconciliation like hollywood usually depicts.

when i went to see it at the cinema people when i came out we're saying 'thats was too grim for me' i thought it was very good. but i've been told a few times i revel in other peoples misery so maybe thats why i liked it.

but thats just my opinion.

Its "grimness" was not the reason I didn't like it - I mean, Ingmar Bergman is my favorite director. Something like his SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE makes CLOSER look like POLLYANNA. I didn't like it because I felt like it was trying to BE a Bergman film or a later 80s Woody Allen drama - complete with strange narrative structure and undefined lapses of time and overlapping of personal narratives and so forth - without succeeding. But for a Hollywood movie, it was indeed very grim and rather blunt, which I admired. I thought the acting was very good at times, but it came up short for me since I couldn't help but compare it to other films that portray relationships with far greater insight, depth and poignancy, and also use narrative structure in a more innovative and interesting way.

a harvard grad, as well.

i couldn't care less if she's blonde or dark-haired. she's a good actress (with the exception of the star wars films) and she's beautiful. she went out with gael garcia bernal, the lucky girl. i wonder what he was like....

The poor girl was saddled with "Revenge of The Lucas-Penned Screenplay", I think she did the best she could with the material she had (and speaking of materials, did Cher loan her wardrobe to the production crew?)

That, and she was so totally hot after they got her out of that kabuki make-up

Of the three prequels, she's best in the second. The first one, she's apparently an understudy on a Kurosawa set. The third, she's got a basketball under her dress. :p

I agree with some of the posts in that the "grimness" and cold reality of cheating lovers is what makes it such an involving film.I was just totally gripped by every scene and the whole story.Clive Owen and Natalie gave top notch performances.Even liked Jude Laws character.Hes still a wanker though
