DECADES...

For me it is, without a doubt the 80's!

That's when I was a teenager, so I don't know if that's the reason; but my opinion hasn't changed despite a rather unweildy and growing record collection spanning all the decades...

80's for me aswell.

I was 13 1980. Very important age when it comes to music. I still listens to stuff I listened to when I was 15.

The 80s for sure. I think everyone will mention the time he grew up with...

The 60s and 70s were important, too...

1975 - 1982 was probably the most important era for pop music bar the first half of the 60s.

70's by far !!

80's for me,i first time i heard NO,also music Bands like Stone Roses,Happy Monday's,good indie music..

I should say 80's realy because thats when i was a teenager but i think the best period would be 1988-to about 1996/7. So that still covers New order,cure,Mozza,Monday's,Roses,Pixies,Nirvana,Prodigy,Shamen,Ride,Sundays,Therapy,oasis,Blur,Pulp,Verve,Underworld, etc etc etc HELL..Even The Spice Girls

I have to go with the Sixties (and/or late Fifties) not so much because there was wall-to-wall great music all through the era (not necessarily so...Cliff Richard, anyone? All the psychedlic-named bands ever?), but because it's my first love.

My interest in music developed around the same time I discovered an oldies station out of Atlanta that came in pretty good. Sure, after a while I realized that you could tune in at 10 in the evening and hear the same songs you heard at 3 in the afternoon, but sometimes that was pretty sweet.

You had, in a decades' time, some of the greatest artists and songs ever. The Beatles, the Who, Yardbirds, Kinks, Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, the Animals, Stax/Volt and Motown goading each other into greater heights of creativity, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, the Band, the Supremes, the Temptations, on and on....

And, all that lead me to punk, the Clash, the Pistols, JD/NO, Jesus and Mary Chain, Weezer, Radiohead, and so on. Without that first dose of Sixties rock and soul, I wouldn't have the amazing music collection I have or the appreciation for all sorts of things within the "rock" umbrella.

So that's my reason, anyway

60's; Rock n roll. 70's; Disco and punk. 80's; Dance and Indie music. 90's; House & garage & Indie. 00's; Car crash...

Probably the 80's for consistency if anything.

Although i reckon that today is at least one of the best times to be a music fan, its only been like that for 2 years, and even so theres still a lot of crap floating about. the 90's: well, the early 90's were pretty bad, britpop seemed like fun, but oasis, suede, pulp and supergrass were good, but bands like shed 7 and elastica? I'll pass thank you very much.

the 70's. Late 70's i can accept, punk and post punk, and bands like ACR, teardrop explodes etc. With the 70's you've got prog rock and hair rock, which i dont get at all.

that leaves the 80's. throughout the decade you had New Order and REM, which is no bad thing. The biggest band at the start of the decade were the Police, who i unashamedly quite like (despite sting being a dickhead and having shit solo stuff) U2 were also quite good at the time, as well as the Jam. mid 80's saw the Smiths, James and a few others. and the late 80's saw the Stone Roses. On the other hand there was a lot of crap, Hair metal, New romantics etc

its much easier to categorise music into era's than decades. bits of of one decade are better than bits of another

the 1980s. mostly for sentimental reasons, as that's when i grew up. even journey gets me rockin'.

not to mention that's when i discovered NO and the other manchester bands. good times.
