nitzer ebb vs. 242 3 fav. songs and which band do you like better?

real quick, we're doing a 242 vs. nitzer ebb night in Chicago @ holiday club if anyone in the area is interested. 4000 n. sheridan (@ irving park road) 21 and over and there is no cover. 10pm in the back room.

3 fav. nitzer ebb songs currently:

1. twa

3. warsaw ghetto

all time: murderous, join in the chant, getting closer, lightning man, family man

and for 242:

1. quite unsual
2. rythym of time
3. headhunter

other favorites inlcude: rerun time, circling overland, until death us do part, tragedy for you, masterhit, welcome to paradise.

and i'd take 242 over nitzer ebb any day :)

Definitely Front242, and no disregard for the Nitz.

My 3 faves... Mmmh, quite though, I quite like everything, so, here goes :

Hmmmm.Nitzer Ebb played club Nu Mia.Bch. I'd guess '89 small venue,they were quite in your face,best live show i've seen.Front 242 played the Cameo in '92 or '93 I missed that one.But I like their [242's] tracs a bit more.

Front 242 is the far better band, in my opinion. My three favorites by them:

Nitzer Ebb--I just have That Total Age or whatever. Have not listened to it in decades. But Front 242 is much better IMHO.

I prefer Front 242, NE is too rough for me.

i prefer front 242. i saw nitzer ebb open for DM in 1990; they were good but not as good as 242 were at lollapalooza in 1993 (i think it was?).

In a nutshell, NE did a gig at London Subterranea in 1989 or1990 (great gig by the way I think it is available on DVD every so often on ebay) and shortly afterwards a comic strip "Bradley goes gigging" appeared in 2000AD magazine of that gig with Bradley attending and causing mayhem at said gig.

BRADLEY Creators: Alan McKenzie & Simon Harrison 27 episodes: 1987-88, 1990, 1992-1994

Bradley is a bizarrely-drawn "sprog," a troublemaking menace like Dennis, but in a future world of strange technology and stranger grown-ups. The series, written by eventual editor Alan McKenzie, went through a number of formats over the years. The first five stories were "Dennis the Menace"-styled bits of mayhem. The next five showed Bradley and his cohorts Milton and Annabella looking into the world of music. The next two stories dealt with Bradley's incarceration for juvenile delinquency and escape. The next seven, tagged as "Bradley's Bedtime Stories," were Bradley's rude retellings of fairy tales. Finally, Bradley had a few short series which were generally quite unpopular with fans.

Top moment: You either loved Bradley or hated him, unless he was taking the piss out of Andrew Eldritch of the goth band Sisters of Mercy, in which case every 2000 AD fan adored him. Prog 666's "Bradley Goes Gothic" had Bradley attempting to interview an uncooperative, stone-faced Eldritch about goth music. Artist Simon Harrison helpfully included notes to Eldritch in the panel borders about dealing with his rock-hard facial muscles.

no, i went to this place down the block. the lady didn't speak english but that wasn't the problem. the problem was i forgot i had a big head and the style i wanted made me look like bert from bert and ernie.

thursday, front 242 won. we got bored of nitzer ebb pretty quickly and played mostly 242.

Yes.

Nitzer Ebb was a pretty shallow band ...but even thou i don't really listen to them anymore their songs are drilled into my head as much as anything... "Join in the Chant", the first album is so singlemindedly over the top you gotta have some sort of respect or something... the second album is their peak IMO, "Hearts and Minds", "Captivate", "Without Belief" all guilty pleasures... the third album tries to be more complex but ends up sounding pretty dated, that kinda awful fake synth line in "Lightning Man" sticks in your brain like a annoying commercial... the fourth album has one of the worst cover arts in history but "I... GIVE... TO... YOU!" burrows into your head and makes you want to sing like an idiot along side, inexplicably unforgettable...

Front 242 is cooler i'd admit. "Headhunter" makes you dance like an idiot out of control. Always loved "Welcome to Paradise" even thou it sounds so incredible SLOW compared to anything post 80s. "Neurobashing" was my favorite from Tyranny for You

maybe I'll dig these CDs out and give them a listen, Offical Version, Front by Front and Belief, and see what i think now... it's been years and years...
