I see NO topics on the U2 site. You have to be diversified, otherwise you'll end up sounding like a broken down record.

What is it with people on here going on about Depeche Mode and The Cure? I was given the last Cure album-i can see why,its shite. And its taken a remix by Sasha to give DM their first decent tune since Violator,and how old is that? 1989? Both bands shouldve called it a day long ago.

A broken frame for me. Or Speak and spell.

I love the old, bad produced albums more, than the good produced ones.

Sentimental choice Black Celebration album and the title track while Violater ranks No 1 favorite with Enjoy The Silence. On second thought, I've always liked Strange Love too off the Music for the Masses album and i liked how a couple songs drifted off toward the ambient sounds.

Don't actually have a DM album in my collection, but I suppose if I did I'd go for the Singles.

Don't know if they're on it, but my two fave DM tracks are the Adrian Sherwood mix of Are People People? and the DJ Shadow vs. DMode track Kill The Pain. Like 'em cause they sound good.

I did happen to come into possesion of, i think it was a Perfecto mix of Its No Good (i think thats what it was called) back around 2003.I quite liked that particular mix.

Gonna go against the grain and pick Ultra, and Useless is the top song off it.

It was a classsic bounce back album that most Mode fans never thought they would ever see.

I dont actually *mind* a lot of Depeches stuff (except the excruciating People Are People amongst others).I`ve never bought their stuff or gone to their gigs.

Its just something about the band themselves i never liked.It all seems a bit planned.A masterplan that even covered the oh ,so boring "weve gone really dark with this new album" crap.And even Gahan`s near death episode just seemd all cliche to me.All part of the plan.

And they just never had New Order`s cheeky ,mischievous,piss taking attitude.Depeche wanted to rule the world like U2 wanted to.New Order just wanted to make some great music and take the piss along the way.

Some Great Reward Lie to Me because i say so... no really, its got a really nice groover and some really warm low end. i don't think there is a more dancable DM tune exists.

Overall, it is a very danceable album. It's my second fav. It retains the "industrial" feel of Construction Time Again, but has better lyrics.

and better tunes... more wilder influence. it picks up where "two minute warning" leaves off. CTA is prolly my 3rd fav, after SOFAD (popped my cherry to that one).

For the record, New Order does get constantly mentioned, in context of their contemporaries, which U2, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, and even Duran Duran all happen to be.

It does neither the forum, nor the new Order name any good to say what many of the thread participants have just posted.

This thread has been posted a week early though (unless the 'Playing The Angel' album is on the illegal download sites again!).

'SOFAD' is the most complete album, though I am a fan of 'Exciter'.

Music for the Masses Strangelove, tied with Nothing and Agent Orange (I know, not a proper album cut, but oh well) A very complete sounding album, much in the vein of Black Celebration.

Runner up is A Broken Frame, post-Clarke pre-Wilder, very raw synth and drum machine beats, Nothing to Fear is a class tune.

EDIT: What exactly has Andy Fletcher contributed musically to the group? Obviously Gore/Wilder were the main music makers from late 82 thru SOFAD, but what about their first two albums, or from Ultra on?

Close followers are 101 and MFTM (Pleasure Little Treasure, Behind the Wheel, ...).

Their single collection is also a must-have, because all tracks are the genuine 7 inch versions and many of them are different from the album versions.

just had a listen to the new album in my car, not that impressed i have to say, if i could use a word to describe it i'd say 'Downhill',

Has a fairly good start then slowly drifts into boring and monotunousnous (have i spelt that right?)and i eventually lost interest and found reading road signs more fun, which is a shame because i was really looking forward to listening to this album.

WFTSC shits all over it!!
